>a Snapdragon 835 will make it the fastest cell phone with a physical keyboard made yet

>same camera sensors as the Google Pixel 3 mean it has the potential to be among the best performing cameras on a cell phone to date

>old standards that are commonly abandoned for objectively no good reason like a tool-less microSD card slot, headphone jack, equally sized stereo speakers, and FM radio

/tech/, give me good reasons why this shouldn't be my next phone. So far, the only personally viable downsides I see are

<curved screen distorts content, is less durable, and lessens grip area

<at $650, price to spec ratio, minus the physical keyboard, is sub-decent to just plain bad

Just watched a talk about the degradation of technology over time (http://youtu.be/pW-SOdj4Kkk), and it made me want to start taking what I do more seriously. But when I think about it, I really have no idea where to even begin looking for information or even what to look for.

What can we do to improve the spread of information and ability to learn/teach /tech/ properly? For example deep systems-level understanding of computer software and hardware, not python scriptkiddy-tier shit. How to compile a program, how to draw shit into the monitor, how operating systems work and what it would take to make one, how to do networking, how to make your program enjoyable to use, how to make a decent GUI, how do you "hack" or mod other programs, how would you replace a given part of your Linux distro with another or even your own, how to install 8chan into your computer so you can modify the source code, how to contribute code to other people's projects...

I run into this problem very often where I want to learn something or teach other people about something but it's so hard to find information that's comprehensive, easy to understand, not sunken into a sea of useless "information" (like what books tend to have), and is shared by someone who's clearly competent and personally understands the topic well and doesn't shove retarded opinions that are clearly questionable down your throat.

Try to search something in a search engine, and you're more likely to get some javascript retard from stackoverflow telling you to not do what you wanted to know about and instead do a different thing. Try to learn some fundamental programming topic and you'll end up in places where you're told to install visual studio right before being asked to import a bunch of libraries into some hideously convoluted OOP machine. Search for games in steam and you'll get all kinds of bullshit that have nothing to do with your search query, if you search for RPGs right now you'll literally get a bunch of porn and visual novels. There's something fundamentally wrong with the way the logistics for obtaining and sharing information is currently set up.

Now I don't play enough games to care about tPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Start with mathematics. Then mathematical modeling broadly but shallowly, including physics but more in depth. Get into the science side of things and look for critiques of scientific models, including mathematical models in whitepapers and create your own (as a task given to autodidacts and to share with others), for people to study as there must be a study of how 'models' fail or fall short, and how they progress over time. Machines, mechanisms, then electrical engineering from first principles. Play some Zachatronics, IO games if you want.

Some people say the ⊥ (called 'T') skill set is best. Broad base, with their specialization. The ▲ is of course best as the loss of depth is gradual as you move towards your specialization. One should start very broad, then focus in. Much of the central pillar skills require looking at what's going on in the world and various fields and see the flaws in their operative and/or theoretical models. The autodidacts course should be a culture of critique with solution that doesn't create problems and costs that outweight the benefits.

So at this point one should be looking at mechanical and electronic consumer products and try to improve them. After, say, 10 easy improvements, 5 medium imp. and 2 advanced imp., one would move onto more advanced electrical engineering.

Some advanced mathematics that will be relevant to computer science should be studied during this time, and theoretical computer science, such as automata theory, graph theory.

You have to decide if you want to learn about computer hardware in detail or get into coding at this point. Machine code, microcode, et cetera. Projects for this would be good as well, people should use their own ideas, maybe make a game and various programs.

Book use should be promoted, but so should ways of making it easier to get info with skimming. Read the table of contents paying close attention, read the first few pages of anything iPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Antivirus isn't really needed, especially avast.

If you really want to be more secure then here's what you do:

1. Create an admin account

2. Create a standard user account

3. Use the standard user daily, if anything requires an admin account it will prompt you for a password

4. Run Malwarebytes every month or two just for a sanity check

Seriously, whenever I get a new client due to viruses, I move their profiles from an admin account to a standard account and it gets rid of 90% of problems, instead of getting a call about their files all being encrypted I get a call asking me for the admin password.

Just because you know what you're doing doesn't mean you should run as an admin on your box, plenty of IT techs have been burned by running as the AD admin.

Just having 30 seconds of inattention enables them to get a virus for their whole org, same goes for you and me.

Avast is useless. the best is windows defender.

Do not install antivirus from third party companies, they are spyware. everyone.

if you want your pc to work more securely. keep windows updated (if possible every time you use the pc always hit the update button), in the windows firewall use the maximum security settings (in your web browser too and always update it too) and install a pfsense firewall.

To use pfsense you need a pc (it can be an old one, I have installed it in a phenom x4 945 with 4gb in ram and it works excellent) with two network cards. configure it for maximum security. on youtube and on the web there are tutorials. it is not difficult to do. just follow the instructions.

Also never install cracked or pirated software of any kind. they may have malware. if you want to use pirated software use a separate pc for that not your main pc.

good luck.

http://www.pine64.org/2019/07/05/july-update-all-about-the-pinebook-pro/

Pinebook Pro pre-orders start July 25

forum members get priority. fuck.

>Linux

Let’s talk a bit about the state of Linux for the Pinebook Pro. As far as Linux on ARM development goes, I can say with confidence that we’re in what I like to call the luxury territory. What I mean by this is that everything works – some things better than others, but it’s all there – and there are no deal-breaking issues in any of the builds. Developers have effectively moved from ‘making things work’ to ‘making things work better’ in the past two months. Improvements are literally done daily, if not hourly, and everything from desktop acceleration to trackpad settings and battery-life is being continually tweaked. Regarding the custom Debian build that will ship with the Pinebook Pro – at the time of writing we still have about two weeks to continue tweaking things so they work their best. You will, of course, likely want to hit the update icon when you get your laptop, which will update the kernel and numerous other things, as well as run your regular apt updates and upgrades.

>battery

That said, cool things have been done to improve battery life on the kernel level. MrFixit2001 has managed to make the governor monitor activity, so that not only does it set the frequency of the cores but also automatically turns the cores on and off on a need-be basis. We expect that this will see a significant improvement to battery life as well as thermals whilst having a relatively small impact on performance. From my testing, relative to all cores being active and the default interactive governor settings being applied, running webGL demos and playing simple games the observable performance difference is really negligible (for reference, 5 FPS difference running Aquarium WebGL demo). This is a very cool trick and one will be further improved upon and find its way into the majority, if not all, OS’ for the Pinebook Pro. Lastly, I think its worth noting that you can also turn individual cores on and off manually from the userspacePost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Olimex also have ARM laptop. It's an A64 SoC (quad-core Cortex-A53), so not as fast as this Pinebook, but can still be useful depending on what you plan to do. It's also immune to the Spectre class of bugs, so safer than this Pinebook. The older Pinebook is more equivalent in specs, but that one had shoddy build because they where trying to fit everything into $100 price.

>Le nothing to hide nothing to fear line

The problem is that we are currently living in a dystopian world were they try to trace and control every aspect of society.

Thus we are targeted hard.

Unless ((( they ))) have good evidence that you are someone valuable, you are to them like another normie in a sea of NPC which will obviously follow the brainwashing agenda at each case.

When you start doing stuff that will call their attention, that's when you are more likely to become actively targeted.

Until then, lern2opsec and keep learning, but without freaking out.

Also, and to clarify, i believe every human being on this earth should have the minimum opsec which difficults their agenda. Which includes:

- no usage of google at all

- no faceberg, instashit, and so on

- usage of twitter anonimously or better not at all

- FOSS operating system, at the very least Devuan

- No "smart" cellphone. Use regular phone for calls and messaging, and another thing (laptop for example) for computer stuff.

>muh camera

there are tradeoffs

- always consider the possibility that what you write on internet could be traced to you

And so on.

As someone said, normies are probably a lost cause; in an ideal world, jew-free, they could do many of the points mentioned but in the current situation they are literally a hardware vulnerability and thus cannot be fully trusted.

Full remote backdoor available in all Intel and AMD computers since 2003

All your keystrokes, screens, files can be remotely read or modified on demand at any time by MOSSAD, even if your PC is turned off. That includes your encryption password.

Pre-PSP and pre-ME cpu's are not safe. ASF and DASH are previous versions of PSP/ME botnet. ASF --> DASH --> ME/PSP

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alert_Standard_Format

Alert Standard Format (ASF) (also sometimes referred to as Alert Standard Forum, Alerting Specifications Forum, Alert Specification Function, etc.) is a DMTF standard for remote monitoring, management and control of computer systems in both OS-present and OS-absent environments.

http://www.dmtf.org/standards/dash

>DASH provides support for the redirection of KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) and text consoles, as well as USB and media, and supports the management of software updates, BIOS (Basic Input Output System), batteries, NIC (Network Interface Card), MAC and IP addresses, as well as DNS and DHCP configuration. DASH specifications also address operating system status, opaque data management, and more.

they can access your keyboard, video, mouse over the internet

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desktop_and_mobile_Architecture_for_System_Hardware

Desktop and mobile Architecture for System Hardware (DASH) is a Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) standard.

>Intel Active Management Technology is a compliant implementation of DASH.

So you can't prove you're not a child rapist, and don't kill them when you're done in the slowest and most painful way possible. Once we have a camera on you 24/7, where we're always there, watching you sleep, watching you shit, watching you masturbare, and track everything you see or do online to verify that you're not raping and killing children on a daily basis, we might consider you having reformed - but you will be held accoutable for all the children you raped and killed before we had pervasive 24/7/365 surveillance on you.

Until then, you are a kid fucker and murderer, and should be raped yourself every single day, and everybody should bash your rockspider head in on sight. If you suggest for one second that the guilty-until-proven-innocent nigger-tier "logic" you just espoused shouldn't be applied to you, you're somewhere between a screaming (and leftist) hypocrite, and a glow-in-the-dark yourself - and should have even more daily torture heaped on your degenerate, guilty-by-feefees ass.

See how that works, anon? Crawl back under whatever third-world rock you were spawned beneath until your tiny little brain understands the difference between civilization, and whatever subhuman nigger-animalistic existence you seem to practise.

Alternatively, since you're guilty of all crimes including, but not limited to, those just listed - past, present and future - by the logical conclusion of your brain-damaged "reasoning" skills, just KYS and save the rest of us the trouble of having to find you and slowly and painfully beat you to death.

Freenet (current) did work on a Phenom from 2007, running 32bit Devuan even though the chip may support 64bit, somehow the OS kept freezing after a few hours of usage the 64bit that is (age could be a factor though). The chip given in last week sadly , ah well well over a decade of relative intense usage; it has served its purpose.

>Again the "all undesired actions must be done by human adversaries" fallacy. Much like mass surveillance, exploitation of obsolete (and thus well-known) systems is automated.

While you are right, there could be a level of compromise between what you want to accomplish and the danger of being stolen / read by a cianigger.

Because while backdoors exist on most devices, is really the cia nigger reading and analyzing each and every one of your writings?

>inb4 yes muh automated

But that only recovers mediocre data. Data too evident or to vague to be of any use.

Also the amount of data (terabytes daily maybe) of text data they are collecting, even with automated scripts, would take years to analyze to pre-determine something useful, for example if you are about to blow a federal builidng (in minecraft of course).

There is obfuscation also. For example write in a personal code and the writing could be unnoticed.

To summarize:

My position, which is actually moderate, is to not get depressed or feel watched each moment of your day, because that's half true and that kind of thoughts will harm your mental health.

You are more productive fighting your enemies or fostering your life by considering levels of compromise and analyzing realistical goals ((( they ))) would have at the moment.

Mark was supposed to be migrating boards when it was clear he was being a dumb fucking faggot, and didn't do his job that he was literally being paid to do.

Why can't we have community?

Why paranoia and calls to react emotionally?

Got any more buzzwords? You sound like 12 year old who discovered 4chan last weekend. You clearly don't understand implications of hosting content that can't be connected to another identity other than the owner of the service. For all intents and purposes you are the owner of that content.

And Monsieur, since You are insisting that I don't belong here, I will have to go away. At any rate, I'm in process of breaking my imageboard habit, as posts like this only seem to validate my decision to stop visiting this internet connected reeking pit of fermented brain matter. ignoring that protonmail is just a pile of bloat to install snakeoil (web based end to end crypto), pic related happens, depending on your IP. since they admitted to being a jew(R)nigger(TM)cock(C) compliant company, it can be expected that they will do all the standard bullshit such as randomly locking your account once in a while and asking for your phone number.

,..does this little number qualify?

got this little bugger from some shlep on eBay wholesale,..probably was originally mounted in some patrol car somewhere, wiped clean, and resold.

Always wanted one of these models TBH, I stray towards durability most of all and the Panasonic Toughbook series are built like tanks.

,..she's only 32-bit however, I bought it to start attempting to learn Python, once I acquire enough know-how I'll eventually upgrade to a desktop, but for now I love this little fucker, especially because you can rotate the screen around, lay it down over the keyboard and have a fully functional tablet.

Obviously it was a bit used and abused, but after having a new battery installed, and an upgrade to windows 10, it works really well now.
