the repository is incredibly small and it contains ancient versions on software which makes it completely unsuitable for desktop use. it completely fails as a desktop BSD which it's aiming for and freebsd is obviously the best choice if you want to use a BSD as your main OS. the only thing getting in the way is your fucking autism

Take the triforce chans and masterchan to an extent. They operate in the thinnest of gray areas and are actively used to trade CP. And yet despite all that they keep coming back. The operators are never arrested, the servers are never really touched. All that happens if that their domains get shut down and they play whack-a-mole with global law enforcement. How? They seem to have a reverse proxy or IP trading service called Incrediserve, and I imagine they're probably hosted on some shady Ecatel, Quasi network, bullet proof hosts. But still, how do they stay online and out of jail while obviously hosting child porn and borderline child porn?

I despised the PalmPilot, it took what was almost literally identical hardware to a Mac SE or Quadra, and made it feel like some crippled child's toy. Even speaking as a colossal Applefag, Palm OS's problems all came from the boneheaded design of the Newton, which likewise hobbled PowerMac 6xxx class hardware. Other platforms, like Psion/EPOC/Symbian and Windows CE, brought something much closer to the full power of a PC OS to mobile hardware.

>Arguably BeOS

BeOS seemed very cool, but too few applications were specifically written for it to fully express the intended character of its design, and Haiku is having identity problems caused by too many lazy *N*X ports.

Apple hasn't done that since the A4 SoC IIRC. The A5-A6 used a semi-custom CPU, the A7-A8 used a fully original CPU core, the A8x used a semi-custom GPU and fully original CPU, and everything after is basically fully in-house CPU and GPU cores. Apple doesn't license cores from anybody anymore, it's part of their profit strategy.

On the subject of microkernels, something I've always wondered is if such an architecture would allow you to run multiple OS "servers" designed for the same microkernel (for instance, NeXTSTEP & MKLinux) simultaneously, but with less overhead than a hypervisor.

Also, various others like VxWorks and OS-9. As well as OSs from other domains, such as the EPOC/Symbian cellphone platform. Really, it's a great tragedy the corpulent *N*X/VMS VAX architectural style has become the inescapable template of every OS in every application from wristwatches through cellphones to PCs, exterminating every competitor.

Why don't "we" go back to >>>reddit, faggot. There is no "we". " We" didn't contribute anything to Linux, individuals under the leadership of Linus did.

>I have a copy of the Minix 3 book...

The Minix 3 book is based of Minix 3.10, which is a fundamentally different beast than the Minix 3.4Rx being developed today. Please, take a moment to read thru the Minix newsgroup before suggesting what "we" should do. The problem with Minix in it's current state is that it's essentially netBSD userland with a different kernel. What's the point of this? It has almost 0 active developers, almost 0 driver support (only supports a couple ethernet cards and no wifi whatsoever), and is s l o w. How slow? Minix 3 is 5-10% slower than the already slow Minix 2. If you really want netBSD tools on a different kernel, why not look into the well developed and actively for Haiku OS, which just this last year entered Beta.

>Linix was created to mimic Minix

Wrong. Linux was create to be syscall compatible with UNIX (4?), so that Linus could run UNIX programs. He wrote Linux on a copy of MINIX he had received from his university. Remember, both MINIX 1/2 and early Linux both had non-permisable proprietary licenses. Linus has little in common with the architecture of MINIX, the only similarities are they are both *NX's.

I can't trust firefox these days, obviously not for privacy since they started telemetry, but not even for security (which was the main reason to use them) after the extension incident (which also affected tor browser!). If they can't keep 1 certificate up to date then how can they be trusted to keep any up to date?

Anyways, waterfox seems to be the first "telemetry-free" browser I've used that doesn't break sites or isn't severely out of date. Icecat breaks sites, ungoogled chromium is still built off google code, and pale moon is so fucking out of date its not funny.

There is only one thing that concerns me though - the first time you start waterfox after installing, it pings a long list of websites which is what i am assuming is a network test - but why? I haven't noticed any other outgoing traffic after the initial bootup, but the first startup does concern me - I still use it daily regardless because I don't see any other logical alternative.

Do you trust it? trustless browsers are pretty busted up these days, because the nu-web does everything that leaves them behind (JS, remote fonts, abstracting code so that it only runs with proprietary measures implimented etc.)

sorry for the long post bros, i have adhd and talk a lot.

>By actually rendering to the canvas, reading the result, to detect differences in how the GPU itself handles things.

I don't think current fingerprinting techniques are smart enough to figure out what engine you are using from pixel variations. I think they just render a static frame and compare the hash with a known database.

If they saw a previously unseen hash resulting from random data they would recognize it a rare event, but not necessarily coming from Tor Browser, since presumably other browsers also return unique results.

And in any case, don't just send random data or block the feature altogether, send what [most popular firefox version] would send.

What's a scripting language that doesn't suck?

>lua

90% of the stdlib is unusable, the syntax is sensible, it's completely useless for anything other than its logical operators which literally anything can do better. For instance sh has a large amount of different kinds of expansion you can use to augment your logic.

Because at least it can get you there with logical operators and whatever you should be using it for will be providing you with nonstandard functions, at least it can be a garbage (but less so than the alternatives) extension language which was its original goal.

Also one of those things that are basically undocumented, and no the horrible manuals on the website or the cashgrab books (thank fuck I pirated them) don't count.

>sh

Best syntax except for the fact that even in POSIX builtins it's completely ignored by half the commands (look at getopts syntax for instance). Otherwise you can literally just say "do thing" and it does thing, WOOOOOOOW. No idea how everything else screwed this up so bad.

The ksh manual for instance is 2000~ lines and after that you already know POSIX shell + some bourne/korn extensions, and how limited it all is sadly.

Can't even fucking do argument splitting without requiring you to write an incomprehensible dirty hack, specially if you want to have long opts and will turn into a dirty hack one way or another if your script does anything but run commands in series.

>python

Go back to India.

I'm going to try perl now and if it's shit too I'm not aware of another scripting language.

I don't know what else to try, everything so far is unusable, at least sh works sorta, unlike python and lua which are too shit for even that.

Sadly, Pythons libraries being essential isn't a meme. Try doing nearly anything with "Data Science" buzzword jobs - you can kinda make do with Java but Python is the number one by far. The trick is to only use it as glue for those libraries & write your own logic to drive them in C. That's basically all Python is, a shit-tier scripting language around C.

Good link.

>>Summary

>/e/ promises “better data privacy and data security for individuals and corporations” by offering an “ungoogled” smartphone OS. As shown above, this isn’t completely true. There is still Google traffic when using their operating system. Besides, the weather app and Magic Earth transfer personal data in cleartext. Then, there is a Google font on their website.

>Additionally, some people don’t want Signal or Telegram preinstalled on their smartphone. We observed traffic between the smartphone and an IP address of the Telegram Messenger Network without using the app.

>While /e/ looks promising, it isn’t Google-free by now.

>Mr. Guval wrote a statement after we published this article: Leaving Apple & Google: How is /e/ actually Google-free? http://medium.com/@gael_duval/leaving-apple-google-how-is-e-actually-google-free-1ba24e29efb9

The response reeks of shilling but does provide hope. They have added bug trackers for these points, many not yet complete.

It's good work and all but the flaw is these devices are likely to be treble.

What it means, you're less likely to brick the thing that drives charging, display, or have bugs with components like camera but the fact is treble devices retain their OEM's botnets. Qualcomm for example all its features are retained but you'll be fazed with backdoors that are baseband/ril/camera/mic level. I even tried to dig deep and found a log database about my cell IDs. Creepy but true.

>have 1000 tabs in web browser

>nigger uses entire PC ram even though the tabs are unloaded

why are web browser made by niggers and for niggers? you cannot do any serious work or research on them

why nigger web browser doesn't automatically bookmark tabs in smart way, or have tools to easily mass move tabs to bookmarks, for example by domain (selects all tabs from domain) etc?

why nigger web browser uses gigabytes of memory for unloaded tabs? storing 1000 url and title strings requires few gigabytes these days? this is progress?

why are web browsers, technology, PC, free software, such a failure? why are humans niggers? why is holocaust of everything necessary

How long are you going to dodge this clear fact that should be apparent for everyone by now: you Cniles can't even make a text editor. You can't make anything. You are completely useless. Your unsafe language is dangerous and so are you.

Let's list concrete basic requirements now so you can't try to weasel yourself out for umpteenth time by combination of lies and referring to obscure/dead/historic projects:

1. Text editor must be written in C or in C++. Spelled out in simplest terms possible: source code must not contain any other language.

2. Text editor must have graphical user interface

3. Text editor must have feature parity with Microsoft Notepad, excluding following features: Page setup and Print

4. Source with build instructions must be available

5. Executable binary providing usable editor must be provided for Linux 4.0+ only, with Windows 10 and macOS builds as applaudable but not obligatory

6. You may seek anyone outside this board for help, but links to source and executable must be delivered to jthnx5wyvjvzsxtu.onion/tech

7. There is no time limit for completion as software projects are never really complete. However, working and runnable version no matter how buggy is to be expected by end of October. Failure to deliver that much is failure of challenge.

8. Any attempt to weasel out of this challenge will be interpreted as surrender and silent admittance that C/C++ is useless shit language and Cniles community consists entirely of useless idiots.

That is all. Think you very smart elite C/C++ hackers can do that much with your superior programming language? Too difficult? At least try.

>Kinda lame

it has upsides and downsides.

upside: your application still has access to the lisp debugger and the rest of the language, so it's easier to troubleshoot it and to extend it at runtime.

downside: your application's big as well and slow as hell to start and if it forks frequently those slow down as well as the kernel ruthlessly pushes unused pages into swap

if lisp is good enough for your app, just use Erlang instead

You can debug a compiled program too, ever heard of gcc ?

I think it's not good enough for anything, that's the point of all these threads.

This. I'm personally a shit-tier programmer, and the guy above me is even worse. Everyone is now, shitty deadlines, pajeet-built frameworks and crappy marketing memes meant that you're inevitably forced to half-ass everything & write shitty code to work around all the other crap while never getting to really master anything before the next Big Thing (tm) arrives and you have to learn that. Then there's Agile and the whole process itself. Honestly, we should all be executed, ovens for the lot of us.

Use libcurl.

- set CURLOPT_PROXY and CURLOPT_PROXYPORT to your Tor host and port (e.g. "127.0.0.1" and 9150 if you use unmodified TorBrowser as a proxy)

- set CURLOPT_PROXYTYPE to CURLPROXY_SOCKS5_HOSTNAME. This will let the proxy resolve hostnames (domains), hence prevent DNS leaks.

If you want to use Python instead then use pycurl with same curl opts.

This is where you went wrong. Start with a water fast, 2 days max (at least until you understand it). Costs nothing, safe as fuck. Read up on ketosis & intermittent fasting, chose a program and stick with it. Your body is built to regulate your fat ass, let it do it's work. Once you get the weight off go to the gym 3 times a week, where you lift heavy things & maybe run a little since your cardio is probably garbage. At that point, just stop eating crap constantly (duh), live on good meat and raw vegetables like your body evolved to eat (ie, not cheetos). Occasionally do another fast to reset the system again.

This isn't rocket science, just stop listening to shitty forced memes from the blue-haired cat ladies in the government. Next thing you'll be asking why basing your diet on "the food pyramid" keeps making you feel like shit, or why your "calorie counting" isn't working, holy fuck.

Calories are just a unit of energy. No, they aren't all the same & this is terrible advice to give to fatties (since it properly won't help them). Why? Because chemistry exists faggots - eating 1000 calories of lean beef is in no way the same as 1000 calories of cake. Different metabolic pathways, differently processed by your body. And your body needs more than just "calories".
