>We do not

>do not

Lengthening your "don't" to "do not" and following a insanely specific scenario of the worst case "record all your processes and send them to our servers" means they're lying.

Don't believe in their shit. The thing is it's not about the shit in there but the fact private photos are well unencrypted and still accessible even outside a session.

Also they store these in servers which means they never delete anything. Only 1-pass and deletion promotes 2-pass, it's just a matter of deleting the linking but it still sits in the drive until it's backed up to another set of drives and offshore servers and possibly intelligence agencies too because why not.

First you'll be escorted away from residential area but they will try to communicate and just a heads up there will be no negotiating, you're on their hands.

Another risk is hitting yourself with another aircraft or getting hit by a missile from terrorists or government.

Also you'll be likely detained for knowing the truth about earth's flat surface and how high (or should I say low) the sun truly is. Also if you saw a flux carrier you'll be shot down immediately for knowing too much

Yes since it controls every clock and without the quartz oscillator all systems would almost fail immediately when it loses sense of time.

Some CMOS batteries are lithium and rechargeable but they tend to age and die. I literally fixed a lot of laptops by replacing the batteries and reseating the RAM (due to memory test issues).

No, AMD used to have two guys working on both the r600 (and later) Gallium3D drivers and the fglrx package. Fglrx was far superior in performance, and both were unstable pieces of shit. They decided to stop wasting energy maintaining two separate and shitty code bases in favor of letting the guys just work on the free drivers (amdgpu, written primarily by AMD and far superior to both the old alternatives), while maintaining their own internal branch with some patent encumbered features (amdgpupro, as an analog to fglrx). The whole thing is enabled by AtomBIOS which is their proprietary firmware exposing an actually useful interface to the kernel. Ironically nouveau is the freer alternative.

Got this minor issue thats doing my fucking head in.

I've got an external drive hooked up to my router so the wife can watch her bootleg animu shows over the wifi while she's in the bath fannying about but for some reason large video files (mkv's in particular?) will play but won't allow you to move the playhead at all, any attempts at scrubbing or skipping forward will result in the player (any player) spazzing out and restarting playback from the very beginning.

What could be the culprit here? The file format? The choice of android media player? The type of hard drive (HDD vs SSD)? The file size?

I don't use twitter so wouldn't know, but you can always try to use "video download helper" addon on Firefox, it works on most sites. Alternatively, you can use inspect element in the browser debug/dev settings or the element picker in uBO to see if it's directly downloadable. Either way any video should be downloadable from cache since they're all cached by the browser.

unironically gentoo. Custom compilation and careful customization of use flags and compiler options will give you an functional linux system with modern tools and kernel that still runs well enough on old hardware. Linux is also pretty much the only kernel out there which actually puts care in keeping old architectures un-broken in more recent versions. *BSD are often named but are actually pretty bad at this, mostly because of lack of adoption interest and manpower.

Will have to do a bit of mix and matching and experimenting and you'll also want help from a faster machine sometimes but it's pretty straightforward. Some more complex programs will probably not work but you might not need them. People are running gentoo on SGI Indigo2 machines, certainly possible. Downside is that old machines are pretty much never power efficient, especially compared to something like ARM.

try this one trick, just remove only the battery make sure it's not plugged in AC charger

hold power button for 30 minutes or 3 minutes as much as you like and try to power it on again.

what I suspect is it's either that the POWER button gets stuck. another is if you can manage to safely remove the keyboard but that's usually hard to do and you risk making your keyboard flex corrode by exposing flex to oxygen (if left for unseated for few hours).

They heat faster than gas. Gas probably costs less than electricity regardless of where you are. They are incompatible with most cookware, especially cheap and copper cookware.

They work by having a shifting magnetic field pass through the bottom of the pan - this works with everything but is ruthlessly inefficient with anything non-ferromagnetic. Most cheap (and good) cookware is a thick aluminium plate bottom with a stainless steel bowl on top. Those will not heat up worth a shit on an induction top. Cast iron is great but controls like a tank. Aluminium is great because of its high thermal conductivity. Copper is even better because of its even higher thermal conductivity. What you'll have to do is get sandwiched aluminium, iron, and stainless pots if you want the best of both worlds. They are more expensive and not as good mechanically fused copper-stainless cookware.

You also can't use round-bottom woks without a special wok in a special induction hemisphere that fits it perfectly.

Try isolating some variables.

First, this is unreadable. I assume it's because it's TLS as it's sent to port 443. Connect to the site without TLS if possible or set up wireshark to MITM the connection if you can't use your browser's own network activity inspector.

some part of it's always going to be the same. Because packets go all the way down: the recipient of the webcam frame needs to know what it has a webcam frame. Figure out what that part is and block it.

nah at this point forking your browser and breaking its camera stuff is the best option. That requires digging into the code, and I haven't looked at what specifically would be required in the slightest.

I imagine it'd only take about a week to produce a "chrome that gets its webcam images from this directory" fork, but the the fun would be in keeping it up to date, especially if the panopticon you're working with requires constantly updating browsers (like fucking Amazon. what's the point of making it so difficult for me to play music? it's already all pirated! Trying to make Windows 10 slightly less shit for users. For one, I usually install OpenShell for a not-shit start menu. (Easier to navigate when I have to search for things to diagnose things and no ads.) It's also great for anyone more familiar with Windows 7. Is it possible to customize the native win10 start menu to function more like it, or is it easier to just install OpenShell? Co-worker insists ClassicShell is Russian spyware, but after I showed him the source code and the current version of OpenShell working properly he then decided we shouldn't install software anyway and just configure everything via Group Policy

Are there any good scripts that can disable some of the spyware/advertising that aren't too excessive? I sometimes do this for small businesses so I don't like risking blocking too much.

I'm also installing Linux on an old laptop for a friend's grandma that currently has XP installed. She only uses Firefox for Facebook and Youtube so it should be fine. I want to theme it close to XP just to avoid confusing her. Would Lubuntu or Xubuntu be the better choice? Which can more closely resemble XP if themed properly?

What I do is install windows 8.1 pro. It's less hassle, also there's no reason to windows 10 aside from wanting exclusive ads, botnet, dx12 and updates which are of course harmful and with that OS you're also updated to intelligence agency backdoors. If I were you, just get the server LTSB edition.

DWS is a good script for windows but it can't block all ads since there's like a million server that microsoft owns exclusively and would have to block their entire ASN. A good choice is to block windows updates forever because it just introduces more CEIP or ads.

>I'm also installing Linux on an old laptop for a friend's grandma that currently has XP installed.

Backup anything first.

Your problem would be the performance. If that is intel Core 2 (penryn or yorkfield) it might have enough power to watch videos with arch + libva-intel-driver-g45-h264 but if that is some obscure amshit or nv chipset it'll be a complete downgrade as drivers for XP-era devices had always been terribly so shit and even proprietary drivers were culled (classic driver update = throttlefest so you buy new one now).

Also not to mention the ACPI on linux is trash if the laptop will be used portably like your cpu's gonna be at max multiplier doing nothing.

Also meant that if you find a 'drivers' or SwSetup directory just back it up. Most old devices lack drivers, HP discontinues hosting drivers after 5 or less years and most OEMs follow suit. You won't be able to find drivers easily for a windows 3.1 device or pre-2000/xp.

If there's no drivers for the laptop available online (drp is shit) don't migrate to linux blindly. As I've said, it could be a complete downgrade in performance even with proprietary drivers.

I go to boot a game, play for a few minutes before I get a hard crash that has these lines going up the screen with a stuttering sound of whatever audio was being played at that moment. I then go to reboot it, and nothing displays on the screen but everything is running in the case, so I have to turn it off a couple of times and back on before something displays.

If it does access the internet, it really depends. Sometimes even the best security practices get fucked over by 0-days. You should really look at whitelisting/blacklisting certain updates to avoid telemetry, but if you'd rather not update at all, then at least use good add-ons to block ads, extraneous (or all) scripts, and so on. (I stopped updating my Windows install around the Win10 bullshit, but I rarely use it.)

I've half-wondered if Win95 could be more secure on the internet than say Vista due to viruses being more likely to target newer platforms, but I'm also aware security by obscurity is a shit practice.

Doing half-assed research I found that Win10 LTSC doesn't have Cortana or the Windows Store, and has a few more options in regards to restricting data sent to Microsoft. However, there's no way to confirm it's spyware-free or that the differences even make it spy less to begin with. For all we know LTSC could have more tracking to ensure people aren't using it outside of designated businesses. (There have been cases of companies hit with lawsuits for using pirated Windows despite the apparent apathy of pirating home versions for households.)

Microsoft is very secretive about how Windows works and what it sends. I'm confident Windows is reporting data it's not disclosing (which is illegal in many places) but I can't prove that beyond the massive amount of data it already openly admits to tracking.

Screen fades to black with no disconnections, the fade is about .5 seconds while it stays black for about 5-10 seconds until, *pop* back to normal.

This happens only during demanding tasks but still infrequent even when really trying to push it to its limits.

A thing to note is there is no loss of sound or any other functionality during the fade, its just the display that fades (pretty sure its not the screen thats the problem since this started occurring when i got a new GPU). My 4 year old PSU should be able to handle the new more taxing load but if its faulty then i can see my old setup not pushing it too hard and just skated the edge of reliability so the problem jus never occured until the new more taxing GPU. Or... my new RX vega 56 is faulty.

Hard to tell, so im curious if theres a test im not trying that can help localize the problem better.

CPU percentage is an artificial and largely meaningless metric. Maybe it's not impossible to measure at a conceptual level, but at least on the computers of today, it's impossible. You can have a single core CPU at 100% load and still have spare CPU resources. And it gets even more complicated with multi core CPUs sharing components between cores.

Either way, your CPU isn't the only possible bottleneck, and load averages aren't a (solely) CPU-based metric, which makes them superior.

The load average is how many proccesses were not idling on average within the last interval that was being measured. It can climb because of a storage bottleneck or any other bottleneck. It's more meaningful than CPU-only "usage" statistics because if the load average says you're on high usage then you're definitely on high usage, but if a CPU% meter says you're at 100 or 0% load then it still doesn't necessarily mean you're overloaded or not. It just means a single component in your computer claims to be at 100% load, but that doesn't actually matter, are the tasks you give it getting done on time or not? To answer that, we have among other things load averages.

The future (((they want))) is that everything is proprietary and botnet.

They don't want people into the open source that they had to destroy nice things like

>linux >> systemd

>superior linux audio >> crappy pulseaudio

>linux >> cia nigger

>debian systemd controversy >> cia nigger kill ian

>foss community >> CoC

>foss developers >> check your privilege

>firefox/chrome/palemoon >> soros

>github >> embrace extinguish microsoft

The list goes on..

It's so obvious by now what (((they want))).

They want the NewSpeak in technology, no one knows how shit works and everything is high-level.

>I'm obviously uneducated on computers so what's a good distro to start on if not Gentoo

I've been using GNU/Linux for probably 5-6 years now, tried Gentoo once last summer and it was hard to setup, don't use it if you can't into computers. If you want something easy to start with GNU/Linux Mint http://linuxmint.com/ is user firendly, but it has some flaws:

- in it's repository there are some nonfree (like in dystopia, not like in price) packages like Discord, Skype, etc. - you should generally avoid nonfree software, because it is often malware http://www.gnu.org/proprietary/proprietary.html but it is still better than Windows you're using now

- Mint uses systemd - arguments why systemd is bad were listed on this website http://without-systemd.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page but it's dead now (or cuckflare is cheating on me, anyone mirror?), you can always search the web for it, it won't be hard. Also you shouldn't care about it now, because GNU/Linux distributions with systemd are still better than Windows.

>I'd be fine with installing Elementary or Mint but I'm aware that Linux is being homogenized into standardized structures due to that Poettering cunt so I'd like to hear your opinion on the matter.

Last time I checked Elementary was shit, but you can try it too.

>How is WINE and what OS is good for games that isn't (((Ubuntu))) which I know is W10-tier.

Mint developers are working on better Wine integration, so if you care about games, you should try it, but almost every distro has probably Wine packaged.

I can help you with setting up everything, just ask me if you want. Are you any familiar with GNU/Linux, console, etc?

12 volts 3.5" desktop drive > SATA-USB > may kill the drive

may not if the SATA-USB had boost converter which is usually never the case.

HDD docks work because they have their own 12v power supply or they use eSATAp.

The thing about israel is probably overkill, because there are greedy people all around the world, but besides this, I see now, you're probably right - they're not even a foundation, but in April this year, they collected 24K $ - huge money for a team, who only forks GNOME and changes the way it looks, adds some applications (usually forked) and then they just forks Ubuntu. For this money you could pay a developer full-time to make the Hurd usable. There are projects developing real operating systems for much less, for example ReactOS - from their annual report you can know they raised 21,463.65 € for the entire duration of 2018.

http://reactos.org/project-news/inside-reactos-deutschland-ev-annual-report-2018

There are projects deserving more attention than this, but actually it's still better than Ubuntu and no one is going to switch to Gentoo or Guix System right from Windows. It is good that distributions like these exist.

Librem 5 still will be requiring some blobs, but AFAIK they isolated them from the system somehow, so it can't do anything serious.

Fairphone is only modular, but the hardware requires nonfree blobs to run, but at least is has the bootloader unlocked and the system is rooted, so you can at least install Ubuntu Touch or LineageOS.

There are some devices able to run Replicant, but they often require some blobs too. http://replicant.us/supported-devices.php

>even tablets?

Tablets are probably even worse, because there are only few listed here: http://replicant.us/supported-devices.php

If there were a tablet able to run free software, it would be listed there. Tablets have the same internals as mobile phones have, just lagrer screen, battery, etc. Mobile devices, unlike desktop computers, were never designed to run different than default operating systems, and that's it. Highly proprietary, backdoored, non-rooted and with locked bootloader - that's the state of today's mobile devices. Risc-V processors will lower the cost of developing hardware and probably more projects like Librem 5 are going to show up, but for now we have to use old, partially proprietary mobile devices, or avoid them at all. The best thing you can do now is to support ongoing efforts for better, libre hardware

http://www.crowdsupply.com/eoma68/micro-desktop

http://www.crowdsupply.com/libre-risc-v/m-class

http://puri.sm/products/librem-5/

Purism also donates the libre processor linked above, so even if their hardware isn't fully libre yet, they're probably worth supporting

http://www.crowdsupply.com/libre-risc-v/m-class/updates/purism-donation

But generally we have to wait, developing hardware is cheaper than ever and we're now encountering the awakening of libre hardware, just spend your money on proprietary hardware.

Once I called my ISP with a problem, the usual guy got me with the usual stupid questions (how many lines, did you restart the router, is the light on, etc.), and while answering one of the questions I mentioned something about my problem in Ubuntu. He said "ah, you've got Linux? I'll refer you to he guy encharged of that".

The guy says hello, I tell him about the problem, he didn't make me do any stupid test, solved the thing in 5 minutes. So dunno, tell them you use Linux and see what happens.

How do I organize my files in a concise easy to navigate way?

I have hundreds of gigs of random shit, across dozens of topics and with nearly every commonly used file format (mp3, mp4, png, jpg, gif, pdf, etc) I have so much shit and I have no idea what to do with it. I'd say the 4 biggest "things" I have are memes (picture and video format) along with a lot of /k/ /tech/ and /pol/ shit of every flavor.

Every time I've tried to organize it I get completely overwhelmed by the sheer volume and complexity of it all.

Part of the trouble is finding what level of specificity I should go down to. Another part is the crossover between folders of a subject, like should this book go in the computer folder because it has math equations or should it go in the actual math folder. Should I link the 2 folders with a shortcut or just have a shortcut to one folder inside the other? And trying to stick a name to everything is a fucking pain.

Pls help.

Strange question, but probably yes, but expect it to change its properties as it would get bigger. And remember feathers are just product of evolution, they are not necessarily the best solution, they just work. Wings made from metal are probably the best solution for now.

Any tips on how to make a compiled Python program run faster? I'm sure there's improvements I could do the code itself and shit, but the biggest thing is it takes ages to start up. Used pyinstaller for it. It's a pretty small program, so it shouldn't be that bad.

organize it roughly, more specific when it warrants the amount? there's no point in putting a book with formulas into a "math" folder when it will only have 2 books at most asf (unless they're really that important). for pics and videos gallery mode etc should reduce the need to rename files a lot.

stuff that would only get use on one board like specific /animu/ stuff I put in it's own folder so I don't have scroll through dozens of irrelevant pictures. also don't try to autisticly plan and categorize beforehand, for example stick all reaction images into it's own folder, if it comes to big for you over time split it at that point. basically go with the flow.

Cool. You could try using something like bats have, that would be a lot easier to implement. Also look at natural history - membranes evolved several times (flies, pterosaurs, mammals). Birds have feathers just because dinosaurs had them to warm up, it isn't probably the best solution.

Posted this on half/g/ as well.

In short, I'm wondering whether there is any simply way to pass everything besides access to my laptops internal SSD to a Windows 7 or 10 virtual machine, or otherwise prevent a regular windows 7 or 10 installation from touching my ssd.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, I'm forced to install Windows, relying on something like Virtualbox isn't really an option, VGA drivers are too slow for what I need to be doing, and their other ones are buggy, Wine doesn't work either. I don't really trust the software I am forced to use, nor Windows itself, should I install Windows in a separate partition, while it would not be able to read my encrypted root partition it would obviously still be able to fuck with it, I would like to ensure that it can't. Taking my laptop apart and removing my ssd every time I need to use Windows is not an option, just buying a separate laptop isn't economically appealing either.

>graphene OS

Literally what? I have never heard about about this OS ever before. The hardware is already compromised, don't know about the OS, but the easiest way to debotnet parents would be telling them not to use certain applications. Install them f-droid or something.

Hello i need some help with linux command pls. I want to know how to integrate the mv command into the find command. I have a folder structure that looks like this:

   ├── image1.jpg
   ├── image1metadata.json
   ├── image2.jpg
   ├── image2metadata.json
   ├── image3.jpg
   └── image3metadata.json

I want it to look like this:

.

│   ├── image1.jpg
│   ├── image2.jpg
│   ├── image3.jpg
│   └── metadata_folder
│   ├──image1metadata.json
│   ├──image2metadata.json

   ├── image2.jpg
   ├── image3.jpg
   └── metadata_folder
   ├──image1metadata.json
   ├──image2metadata.json
   └──image3metadata.json

I have so far tried /usr/bin/find /PATH/**/*.json -type f -print0 | xargs -0 -I {} mv {} ./metadata_folder

this moves everything to /PATH/metadata_folder instead of /PATH/**/metadata_folder

It won't print out paths that already have 'metadata folder' in them. This isn't as efficient as it could be (need -prune for that) but it should be fine for your purposes.

<what's a repository and can programs and applications be deleted from it

A repository is a server hosted by distribution maintainers - it contains packaged software, so you can easily install it with simple command or even by GUI. Applications can be deleted by distro maintainers, but they usually do this only when package is broken, or no one uses it/wants to maintain it.

<audio player for Linux

There are plenty, I for example use audacious, but there are plenty, just searchengine it and pick the one you like the most.

<torrent client for Linux

Same situation, examples: deluge, transmissions, etc.

<what's a partition and how do they work

Partition is a separated space on your disk, Windows has partitions too there they're called disks and have letters C:, D:, etc. On GNU/Linux and other UNIX-like systems partitions are represented as files /dev/sda1 (disk a partition 1), /dev/sda2 (disk a partition 2), /dev/sdb (disk b), etc. When installing an installer program will ask you how do you want to have your disk partitioned, if you're going to overwrite Windows you probably would like to pick "whole disk, one partition" option, things are much more complicated if you want to keep Windows on the same disk.

<why is Elementary shit, not going to install but curious

I had once problem with GPU on Elementary, tried it once, didn't work well, switched back to Mint, that's all. I used Mint, because it was the most popular distribution at that time - it made troubleshooting easier. But you can try it if you want. Also all these distributions like Mint, Elementary are usually forks of different distros - Mint is a fork of Ubuntu and Ubuntu is a fork of Debian, Elementary is a fork of Ubuntu too. The problem is there are so many distributions doing redundant work and this splits the community apart.

<how to join or make an IRC

Usually IRC channels of free software projects are hosted on freenode http://freenode.net/ , you can probably access IRC channels from the website, or by an IRC client, for example hexchat. But check out some tutorials first if you're confused, because IRC is one of the oldest chat protocols, so checking IRC's netiquette can be helpful to not to annoy people sitting there.

<what's a distro to us that isn't retard-tier but not hard to use, something that I can learn without being punished, are Xubuntu and Debian good, how tough would be getting into Slackware be

Everything Debian and Ubuntu based should be relatively easy to use. The most Windows-like distro out there is probably Mint thanks to its DE - Cinnamon. Ubuntu is bloated shit because it uses GNOME and makes poor decisions hurting users freedom - for example it once contained spyware sending data to amazon, amazon app is up to now preinstalled by default and Canonical - the company Ubuntu is backed by tries to push their new 'store' and software packaging solution (snap packages), which is basically a SaaSS http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/who-does-that-server-really-serve.html.en which means only Canonical controls what is added and what is not and you can't host own repositories. Xubuntu will be just Ubuntu with XFCE as a desktop environment. Don't know about Slackware, you should ask Slackware fags, some people like it, because it is simple (in a strange way). I'm personally using Devuan GNU/Linux, which is a fork of Debian without systemd and I am going to switch to Guix System http://guix.gnu.org/ as soon as I'll get a libre computer. There's also Gentoo, some people like, because it lets you customize your system in many ways, but if you don't know much things about compilation, or partitioning you should probably avoid it for now, because it don't even have an installer program - "you are the installer" as they say. There's a handbook, but it can take some time, until you'll set up the system. http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:Main_Page . I encourage you to use a distro for beginners like Mint and you'll switch to something better later.

<what's the diagnosis on CloverOS

You have to ask different anons about this, but as far as I know CloverOS is just Gentoo, but packaged in a way that it is easier to install.

<what is router firmware

It's software running on your router, but this probably isn't a thing here, you don't have to know about it much to use GNU/Linux.

<how to configure wireless internet when first starting Linux

Distributions like Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, etc. have an option to pick a wireless network before installing, it should be as easy as typing the password to your Wi-Fi.

http://write.flossmanuals.net/command-line/introduction/

<will a hard drive dock work in place of the SATA-USB cable

Probably yes.

<what exactly is a text editor

It is a program that lets you editing text, for example notepad.exe on windows, GNU Emacs, Vim. You use this thing to write text or to write code. And if you ask such trivial questions you should really try Mint.

Also there's the naming controversy of the system:

I don't use Win10 at all so I have no experience in that arena. I've definitely run into a million issues trying to find a key that will let me download official ISOs of Win7 recently, so maybe.

If you have an OEM key or can "borrow" one then you can try inputting it and seeing if it will let you download the image and activate. If it lets you download it then it's probably a good sign.

Your only other alternative would be a crack. At least it's not your computer that might have malware on it, but I wouldn't want it to be traced back to an install I did.

At the end of the day, at least if you buy a key it's the customer's money covering it. You may be able to find some kind of deal or upgrade plan that will reduce the fee. That's money out of their pocket one way or another.

That or you could tell them to just ignore the activation prompts, but I have a feeling all the "only valid for a genuine install" crap has only gotten worse with always-online Win10.

In need of some instruction on how to build a ZeroNet seeder from a Raspberry Pi using Tor for just one or two boards on 08chan, like /pol/ and /tech/ - the only boards that matter to me

Install Raspberry pi OS

install Tor, torsocks and some other tor stuff

and ZeroNet

Tor has to boot up first in Terminal

somehow

I think

$ sudo /etc/init.d/tor restart

or

$ sudo /etc/systemd/tor restart

then

$ torify curl ifconfig.me 2>/dev/null

and then after it is confirmed that Tor is running, Zeronet has to start and run two commands - one each - to keep the two boards seeded.

Anon, I need to connect a specific service on a remote machine with dynamic ip that is sitting behind a firewall to a normalfag client elsewhere. As I understand there is a way using ssh tunneling and maybe a jump server, but I don't know the details nor the name for this scheme.

I guess it should be something like the machine establishes a SSH connection and forwards a port with the service to a jump server, and this in turn forwards the connection to port 80. The client connects to the server through it web adress.

Is this too far off? What is the name of this scheme?

Yes. I did solve it with this SEKRET ssh command:

run from a Raspberry Pi Now I'll have to find how to run it from my chink industrial router.

Since I've finally gotten around to moving to a bigger hard drive, I hope this is the right place to ask this because I need an answer soon.

I want to move to a Windows install on this new hard drive, and the only reason I have a Windows install anywhere is the sheer number of games that don't run well or at all in Linux/Wine. The problem is gathering the enormous numbers of saves spread throughout Program Files, Program Files (x86), VirtualStore, My Documents, and a dozen other individual install folders. What I need is some kind of archive program that backs up directories and saves, for each one: a name that I can assign to it, for example the name of the game; the directory's path; and the time of the most recent backup, at the very least. Ideally, I find every single save and configuration file that's scattered to the four winds, pull them all into a backup on an external drive, and then when I move to a new install, I just point the program at the new drive without having to remember where every single thing was stored because those paths are already saved. Does anything like this exist?

 No.1084089

>>1084051

Pretty sure what you're looking for doesn't exist, and it would be extremely hard to program as different game engines use different file formats for saves.

Just back up the saves you need for now, and keep the drive around in case you need anything else in the future.

For those of you who definitely purchased Photoshop and are getting Adobe's Genuine Integrity Service popup appearing on your screen, here is an easy fix:

Go to program files\common files\adobe (also program files x86)

Delete:

>AdobeApplicationManager

>Adobe PCD

>Macrovision Shared

>OOBE

>PCF

>Adobe Application Manager

>AdobeGCClient

>Adobe Desktop Common (optional)

>Adobe Creative Cloud Experience (optional)

You will probably have to go to task manager

End:

>Everything adobe related

>Everything program or application manager/license related

*Only end processes in Apps and Background Processes. DO NOT end anything in Windows Processes

(I don't remember the names of the processes, but this will do the trick)

You can now use your adobe programs uninterrupted.

I've been using the oibaf ppa with a 5700XT and haven't had any driver itself crashes. Should be same driver.

And something with a more recent kernel should just work.

Really the only problem is that I can't get AMD's prorender to work, but that could potentially be me being retarded and that I might need the proprietary drivers.

My company gave me pic related to Work From Home. I've already made some mods to improve QoL (unplugged the internal speaker so sound only comes through the headset, and bought a "mouse jiggler" to avoid the screen locking every 2 minutes). If possible, I'd like to clone its 256GB SSD and use a different computer entirely, because the blower fan on this thing is annoying. The trouble I've run into is they installed Windows 10 with BitLocker, so I'm sure I need the TPM from the HP motherboard to boot successfully. Is there such a thing as a TPM cloner? Like what they have for credit cards, key fobs, SIM cards, etc.? My Asus X99-A has a TPM port, maybe I could load up the cloned drive in a VM somehow. That would be sick. >Are the current Wyzecam V2's able to use cfw?

No. There was a hardware revision that occurred late Summer that is incompatible with any RTSP firmware. This includes Dafang hacks and Wyze's own beta RTSP FW. Supposedly it's going to be resolved in a couple weeks for Wyze's FW, but it will also include "security updates" - no idea if Dafang hacks will work or if there will be much motivation with the V3 roll out.

I bought a 2 pack, one had the old hardware, the other had the new. If you were really set on it you could just do the return roulette until you got the correct version. I just bought them for cheap Xmas gifts.

As an aside, Dafang Hacks has SSH wide open with stock creds. I didn't see an option to change it with the UI, so I had to do it via commandline (ssh)

server/datacenter/supercomputer hardware has still been scaling in adherence to Moore's law or even faster. it's personal computing which is in decline and dying. in a decade you won't have new general purpose computers with an arbitrary amount of storage anymore, just dumb terminals to "muh cloud"

Anyone knows with what I can replace Pulseaudio with on Debian without systemd?

> use Arch fo years

> need Debian now for some programs

> install Devuan bc fuck systemdicks and Lennart is a massive prolapsed assnigger

> It seems to just werk except 1 thing

> its pulseaudio that came with the distro

OF COURSE ITS LENNART AGAIN WHO THE FUCK ELSE

>>1086225

Was thinking of doing something similar, my plan for now:

> find a hosting somewhere in a country that doesnt care or is busy being at war with someone

Thinking like NZ, Phillipines, perhaps some eastern eurocountry depending on your content.

> avoid CMS like Wordpress, Joomla, ...

If you can, write it yourself or copy a html5/css/php/... from someone else.

If you can don't use a database, that shit needs to be well protected.

> Don't rely on kikeflare for DDOS-protection so you don't get shut down

Depending on whom your target audience is, consider using zeronet or something similar.

If its normies you might want to make a clearnet website that gets mirrored on zeronet? Or promotes more content on zeronet? Idk just throwing out ideas

>>1085941

Brave is okay for normies, does a lot and works out of the box for stuff like fingerprinting. It might be enough for you.

See http://www.nsfwyoutube.com/watch?v=dsu9b5FqK_0 for some details.

It isn't enough for me, its built on chromium and is shilled by pajeets because it pays you shitcoins for watching ads.

I prefer trannyfox and configuring about:config myself.

Look at http://github.com/arkenfox/user.js

If you don't know how to do this and can stand the ultracringe article, read http://12bytes.org/articles/tech/firefox/the-firefox-privacy-guide-for-dummies/

I found this guide helpful once but adjusted things even further to my taste.

http://www.privacytools.io/browsers/#about_config is another example but isn't enough for me.

Als use Umatrix on top of that with other extentions.

I'm struggling to learn CSS, and I've hit a brick wall with my homepage. I have links to two articles at the top of the page, just above the lightning gif. Any attempt to arrange them into a table, with the name, author and date positoned in their own positions just messes up the entire page layout.

http://eerieeuropa.neocities.org/homepage.html

I'd like the article links centered more and sort of in three columns. Everything else has worked, but I can't fix this.

Is there an easy solution, or should I just create a new page for the articles?

I bought a cheap 3.5'' composit lcd monitor and it works fine with the zero I have (prototype custom ultra mobile pc is the point in this). I can't get sound to work via the usb in lakka no matter what I try using a pi. I was trying to make an ultra mobile pc with it, but only through hdmi does the sound work and that'd make it too big to use a giant hdmi monitor, even smaller ones would make it a netbook in size and the cost and also power efficiency would no longer make it have an appeal. Raspbian works fine, but lakka cannot choose the usb sound card nor the gpio soildered speaker and circuit I made. I hate having to keep using android phones but they are cost efficient and actually work. Can someone help me with win7 being unable to use samba nor ssh on the zero, the config perhaps, advice with it if not needing to use samba nor ssh? My win7 is locked out of the boot order and I'm neet so I can't safely use linux on it, I'd have to tear out the cmos and possibly break the win7 laptop I'm using to reset the password it's always had. Can androids use samba/ssh to fix it? I need ssh to mess with it's console then maybe finally I can have the zero as a proper prototype to warrant buying a pi 3 or 4, or several so I can have repairs possible on the umpc. I can't get it to work though. Also, I'm neet with slow Internet and limitied hardware space so I've avoided retropie as it's 4gb where as lakka is 500 mb and also was meant to be easier and I'm a baka. Also it looks better, the gui of lakka.

>tried hdmi splitter and it alternates from composite and have no hdmi screen and also crashed the lakka simulataneously as it drew too much power anyway

>other sound card tried

>bluetooth headset tired

>tired using various software on win7 to connect ssh, didn't work

>tried altering the config text

>tried altering the device input manually as left/vs right key

But I can't do it.

tl;dr: the gif on lakka's website is disingenuous, it does not let you select devices with left/right keys nor does the driver option show anything that will select sound via usb so no audio works with the thing

Nah it's just not free software. The major issue with systemd is that it has forced distrodevs to use it, since so much relies on some component of it.
