Outer Wilds (NOT The Outer Worlds)

If you've used 8/v/ long enough you might actually remember some of the threads we had for this game 5 or 6 years ago when the demo came out.

It's a weird exploration-based space game. It's very unique, I'd highly recommend it.

Cryptark is a game where you're a salvage company contracted to salvage a bunch of derlict space hulks, but the defense systems are still online so you gotta go around fucking up the ships with minimal damage sustained and inflicted to maximize profits. Gameplay is kind of like a floatier, but more tactical twinstick shooter with emphasis on the space part, things float around and the movement is very space-like.

I've been replaying Endless Space 1. ES2 has a lot of improvements and all, but I still replay the first one every once in a while. Fuck the sheredyn's economy snowball bullshit. Also playing starsector as a pirate.

I tried to get into Endless Space but a turn based game is just such a turn off after coming from Stellaris and Distant Worlds.

I still don't really know what I'm doing in this game. I discovered it after getting into the company's eastern front game, War In the East. But I've created a nice little space empire and found a colony ship of hot green space babes I unthawed and gave (second class) citizenship.

I can see where you're coming from, those games offer a lot more freedom in terms of interaction, Endless Space I feel plays a lot more like an electronic board game. I'm actually trying Distant Worlds up next, got any pointers for someone fresh out of the tutorial?

Played pirated Stellaris for quite a while, was enjoying a bit of it. Then found that there's a late-game slowdown to a crawl, I'm talking a day in-game taking nearly 45 seconds when it usually takes 1 at most on higher speeds, and it's all thanks to shitty optimization. Thanks Pararetards, good thing I know to pirate your terrible games

Galaxy size is the main contributing factor to your slowdown. The game can't handle all the pops.

But it still sounds like you've got a shit computer. I'm running on a potato and didn't have that much slowdown. With mods.

Still though it's only JUST NOW becoming a complete 4X title with all the DLC packs.

I've been playing Protostar and it's pretty cool tbh, very similar to Starflight and Star Control 2 in many ways. Some NMS every now and then, because fuck you, it's the only game that let's you actually explore a mass of alien planets. I plan on replaying the Mass Effect trilogy with mods and shit later on, because not only are proper space exploration games dead since the 90s, but science fiction RPGs are also rare as fuck these days.

>Stellaris

Did they actually make the competent in the new dlc. I hate HATE HATE the way RTS games handle ai by just giving it extra resources and making it cheat. Paradox is especially egregious in this regard because in other games at least developers will give the ai builds, or make actually competent ai like in Age of Empire DE, they'll assign good loadouts that are ai compatible. They'll give the a set plan to follow and instead in Stellaris when you're colonizing your 6th world, the ai will colonize it's 2nd but don't worry, there pops are just better than yours so fuck you.

By 100, 150 years into the game, when you're rolling around with big fleets, the ai can't stop you and the game just becomes a click to change colour, there's not enough pop management to make it engaging otherwise. There's not enough events, diplomacy is dogshit, you get to the infinite techs too quickly, I hate the fact that tech cost rises with population and colonies, I hate the fact there's artificial limits put on your empire with how you can only build a one planet killer and one superstructure.

So far i'm really liking it, i only dislike the goofy looking aliens but that's because i dislike aliens in general the ayy lmao cliche and i think it doesn't fit the rest of the game, the best moments are when you're alone exploring some ruins with a very quiet but melancholic background track, i'd have liked it if the game was more like Journey in that regard.

>Played GOG XCOM2.

>Got about 240 mods more or less working from the Workshop.

>2 that I enjoy, Disposable launchers and Proper Rocket Launchers.

>Disposable Launchers can be fitted on the back of anyone and are one shot only. They give -1 to mobility but make up for it with longer range and slightly bigger explosive range than a basic grenade.

>Proper rocket launchers replace the grenade launcher and introduce several new rockets like flame, acid, sandstorm for destroying cover but my favorite, a tactical nuke with a 10 tile radius of destruction and ~40 damage.

>Get to raiding the Forge. Scout up with a person in concealment and notice one of the alien hunt Berserker Queen is inside.

>Despite the destruction of a few walls of the facility and the gunfire, explosions and broken sectoid outside, they haven't been alerted yet.

>So move up an assault with a launcher, use that on the main door to blast a way in.

>Group of aliens still not suspicious. What this does is allow my grenadier a clean line of sight with a tac nuke. Arm it then fire it.

>Clears out the aliens, the room and the bloody roof. Nothing but smoke and black tiles later.

>My main point was, while I enjoy my modded playthough it was this moment that gave me a boner.

>Because it's an XCOM thing to use explosives to blow open a wall to allow a sniper or the like to finish off an opponent.

>It's another to use explosives to use bigger explosives.

Been playing Arkane's Prey, actually pretty fun. It's a slightly jankier modern System Shock 2.

And I mean, it's literally a modern System Shock 2 with a meh future art deco aesthetic.

It's melee weapon even is a monkey wrench.

There's space sections too, I'm not a huge fan of the movement though.

It depends on what you expect, but it really is a middle-of-the-road kind of deal. Though the first game has a lot of worldbuilding in it, the RPG aspect is limited to the ever present black-and-white morality system where good and bad choices are painfully telegraphed and are cartoonishly played out (good being goody-goody-two-shoes heroic paragon of justice and bad being meanie meanie bully asshole villain). There are important choices you can make that can have an impact on the long run, but it's mostly concerning the main characters or the main plot with little influence elsewhere and you have to play the entire trilogy to see them take effect.

If you're really into a story, you'll probably get quite irritated at the way the trilogy handles itself as it goes along, so if that's your focus I would recommend you look elsewhere.

The shooting is decent when combined with the abilities and somewhat compounded with the combo effects from ME2 onwards, but as you play you'll note how much of it plays out like gears of war in space. It works competently but isn't anything mindblowing, personally I think they should've stuck to their guns with the style of the first one and improve on that rather than falling into chasing the cover-based shooter trend.

Star Control 2/Ur Quan Masters (Star Control 1 is just a topdown spaceship brawlan game that's better done in Star Control 2) is purely an adventure. It's more like Space Rangers 2 without the RTS. It's got no first person shootan' or much space titties (that aren't highly 90s and pixelated). But its story and races are fantastic.

There's that tech that gives you a module to your space station which blocks movement until the space station is destroyed. You put a station on a chokepoint with that, stick some defences onto it, and it will be able to hold long enough for a fleet to get there to reinforce when it's under attack. Don't stick the station at the very edge of your empire, keep it one or two sectors in so that you can see what the enemy is sending towards you. Even then, the only remotely challenging wars you'll have is the first war against the ai, and then the first war against a fallen empire.

I fucking hate how the traditions systems, and it's not just stellaris that does this. Most 4X will just scale your tech with your population when that makes no sense in the real world. America isn't third world because it has 300 million people, Japan doesn't have some sort of tech malus because they have 120 million people. The only game I've played that handles this correctly is Victoria 2 where population has nothing to do with tech and it's tied to literacy. There'd be ways to circumvent this in stellaris without absolutely gimping the player for going wide, such as giving techs an implementation time akin to institutions in Eu4. Let's say you research a +5% food tech, it would start in your capital or another suitable labworld and then spread to adjacent worlds. The effect of the tech would only apply to worlds where it is accepted and frontier worlds, or those with poor communication would be the realistic shitholes they are supposed to be. When you research new techs, you should have to retrofit your factories to build them, it would add another layer of complexity and give you a purpose for using shit designs (Would it be worth retrofitting shit stations?) rather than just going to the newest version of guass cannon as long as your power allows for it. Holy shit, this 'le new colony suddenly makes that new reactor 10% harder to research' system we have now is such bullshit, the idea I came up with would also allow for small centralized states to still compete with larger empires, because the smaller states would be able to adopt their new technologies far faster than the larger empire like Prussia vs Russia in real life.

One of the few things I actually like about Stellaris is how you can set laws for each specific race, but I don't think there's enough laws. Even if they have no effects and are pure roleplay, you should be able to set things like homosexuality status, patriarchy/matriarchy/equality, you should be able to designate 'native worlds' where other races have more rights, you should be able to set whether they can own businesses, things like that. I want to make life living hell for my alien slaves and simply making them peons isn't enough. You could expand this by giving each race and world a priority, let's say from 1-9. If you wanted to have a race of X who have no rights whatsoever, they'd have priority 8. This would mean that on all worlds with 1-7 Priority, the racial laws would apply, but then on a priority 9 world, the local laws would take effect. This would allow you to create the actuall hellscape that is Warhamer 40K forge worlds without taking the rights of other people on different planets.

I hate the fact each race is just composed of =<5 traits. For one, it's fucking faggy. Races aren't just a series of traits, for two, I can only imagine bugmen think like this. 'Le black people run fast. le japs are calculators' and things like that. Each race should have it's own lifespan, intelligence, strength, charisma, fertility at the very minimum and these should be values that are randomized or manually set. No fucking 'le trait gives you 40 years of life'. Fuck off. If want a race that lives on average 69 years, then allow me to set that manually. It's like these retards are afraid of numbers so everything has to be abstracted. Holy shit Imperator Rome is such a shitshow, I'm glad paracocks aren't every making Vicky3

There's not enough social engineering options in the game, the player should be given a large amount of laws that have minor effects that they can just edit. Give me my free press, my 10 different forms of border control ranging from Shoot on sight to allow everyone in, my acceptance of minorities, allow me to do proper genocides of ideologies, give me a a press I can buy out or just control to instill ethics into my people.

Holy shit, on the topic of ethics, I fucking hate them. For one, making them simply 3 abstract choices is soy-tier. Just allow me to control my peoples propensity for authoritarianism, collectivism, ecologism, the whole lot as a series of sliding scales, not this 'le click le button.'

Decided to give Rebel Galaxy Outlaw another try after hateing it back when it first released. Once, I got past the initial shock of casual it was, and muted the god damn main character's awful constant voice lines, I was actually having fun. Especially after recently dealing with Elite and Star citizen's "everything needs to be as tedious and waste as much of your time as possible" bullshit, having a game that just let me actually do space stuff without requiring 20 fucking mins of bullshit to access it was really nice. The ending to the main quest absolutely blew though, I had to look up a fucking wiki page just confirm that yeah, that really was the ending. And while I didn't expect full 6DoF flight or anything, it would have been nice to at least have a reverse thrust option

Anyone here played martian gothic? I haven't played it myself, but the premise seems neat. It's a 90s survival horror set on Mars, where you can freely switch between three characters. However, if two of your characters get too close to each other, they will merge (due to some alien shenanigans) causing a game over.

Stellaris is still awkward and buggy as fuck, and the federation initiatives you can push are mostly just soyed out pro-enviro/conservation shit with a side helping of "vote for your empire's strength to count more towards diplomacy," but it's still fun subverting the process and declaring yourself the only council member and with a permanent seat. Worth a pirate not a purchase.

Ive been playing EVE with a small corp, we get into some silly fights and we just buy cheap 10-20M ISK ships and fuck off to wherever to have a good time and die horribly. I considered trying to get into CODE just to get some cheap kicks. I also singlehandedly smashed the dodixie large antimatter market recently simply by playing the .01 ISK game so hard that the botters and other traders started racing me to the negative profit line out of spite.

>>16890299

the actual SA fags are mostly dead and gone and most people ave joined goonswarm because it offers them a big alliance full of free shit and nearly risk free carebearing in nullsec

the chief goon himself, the great lolcow mittani, is a bernout who thinks he has real political power (just like vile rat did before he abrutply realized he was a nobody diplomat about to die in benghazi) and you can legitimately be permabanned from goonswarm for saying corona is "just a flu" by mittani himself.

Frontier dropping a big, in-depth stream about the fleet carriers tomorrow. Fleet carrier update beta next week, and supposed to run for a month or two, shortly after which the actual fleet carriers will come out.

Quick rundown on the fleet carriers:

>essentially a player-owned portable space station

>has an actual economy and the player can set prices and taxes for trading

>5 billion space dollars per

>16 parking spots on each carrier

>not actually directly flyable

>can jump whenever you want it to, with a short cooldown between jumps if you have the fuel resource

>500ly range

>apparently have different loadouts depending on roles, like exploration, combat, mining, trade etc. but nothing has been said about what those actually change about it

You can build two at once if you've got the right unity trait thing. Still shit though, and now you're limited to only one Dyson sphere, total, unless you can wait a billion years for the AI to acquire one and then take it.

What annoys me most about Stellaris though, is the lack of guns on planet killers and how you can't even make them part of normal fleets. You have to micromanage a fleet to follow it around, otherwise you can be very quickly short one very expensive ship.

Null is for F1 monkeys that do nothing but orbit a fleet commander and watch the time dilation slideshow, yes, but you can absolutely get a group of 5-20 dudes together and move into a wormhole system to rack up huge stacks of cash off the mobs and making illegal drugs, fight with other wormhole-squatters, and occasionally raid said nullbabbies when you get some nice connections into their mining systems.

I did that for a long time and it was some of the most fun I've had in a multiplayer game.

Played it for the better half of a decade. You'll start off starry eyed and most of your waking hours will be spent logged on (hell, even mining roids for hours on end with buddies is "fun"), building the dream ship in EFT or just poking around reading lore and faction drama.

Before long, you're on your way up with the corps and based out of some distant 0.0 station. And if you're still logging the same amount of time, you should be shouldering a truckload of responsibilities. By now nothing is new, everything has been explored and you're either waiting for alliance members to log in for a gatecamp, sitting at a gatecamp or doing mundane corp chores like roping in unruly new members, writing reports, sorting out logistics, mailing contacts for said logistics, writing reports for said contracts - fuck, it's become a second job.

Nothing is fun anymore. It's all standard routine. Big Titan battle? Fuck me, more tallying and reports and contracts and headaches when they don't get filled. Even if alliance shakeups happen and it's time to move, it's more of the same all over again. You get the same level of excitement staring at a spreadsheet at work. You're only kept going by watching the determination of your corpmates whose names and faces you never remember - they keep changing all the time. It goes on like this for several more years.

Until one day you just stop logging in, neglect to pay the subscription, and never look back. Ever.

Cyber Knight 1&2 for SNES - japan only, translations available. Explore space, scan planets, fight in tactical mech combat (it's a little iffy in the first one but well worth it). Carries heavy inspiration from Fred Saberhagen's Berserker novels

Phantasy Star series - you all know Phantasy Star; actually strong and interesting female characters abound in this series created by Rieko Kodama. And damn good games they are. Interplanetary more than space-focused. New proper single player entry never ever–good thing the PSO style ones are still good.

Corp recruitment chat or forums are probably your best bet. I lucked out and had a group of similarly-minded guys that decided to split off from the null corp we were in.

What was the C3 fit? You'd eventually want to skill into a strategic cruiser, it's pretty hard to catch one fitted properly (you can fit for travel and use a mobile depot to switch to combat mods once you're ready).

If you want some experience moving non-cloaking ships around, you could always take a regular cruiser and try running some C1s. Not very profitable and pretty dangerous, but it'll get you used to it without risking a ton of cash.

But it's actually "space bioshock", though. From the different weapons you have to how the skills work, complementing the gameplay with hacking minigames and psi powers, it's essentially SS3.

You can even go further with enemies being either robotic or organic, being corrupted by a higher entity that either hacks the robots or brings back to life the organics with increasingly more complex life forms.

Or how your gameplay is mostly guided by AIs and almost everyone you find is dead.

I'll repeat the same thing I always say in every Prey thread: If the game was called literally anything else, it wouldn't have got the same reaction. The game itself isn't particularly bad, just a bit light in content but otherwise serviceable and enjoyable. It's the fact that it took the place of a proper sequel to Prey and was published by Bethesda that generates the most criticism and that's not fair.

The first part because that's just people falling for the hype of a trailer, something that is unacceptable for anything else except Prey 2, it seems.

The second because they were the publishers and not the developers, they had little to do with the development of the game.

It's okay with not liking the game, it gives plenty of reasons not to. What I don't understand is defending hype for trailers, comparing the game to an idealized game you never got and say it's bad because it's not what you wanted and blaming devs for the publisher they get as if Bethesda automatically interfered with the game development this time.

Yeah, well that is Paradox for you. The game changed its director like 4 times(I think) and every single one pushed the game in a drastically different direction.

The end result is that the game is loaded with features that go nowhere as they were never finalized. My favorite example of this is ship customization. You can switch almost every component in a ship which should be immensely cool but there is the simple problem of "Why?" Why would you do that? Specialized builds do not really offer any major benefits over mixed ones. You are also never faced with anything that requires a specific loadout or ship type. So the game has this extremely elaborate customization screen that everyone just sets to auto generate since there is no point in engaging with it.

But the worsts part is that none of this will ever be fixed simply because of how much soy Paradox fanboys have in their veins. Even completely legitimate issues like the AI not being able to move its fleets to attack you, broken war exhaustion or the aforementioned ship customization always have a white knight or two pretending they do not exist or that you are just exaggerating. The community is too fucked in the head to even complain about objectively measurable problems.

Some fags on steam forums will straight up lie about how mechanics work just to deny that a bug might be in the game.

I don't have to tolerate it, I just have to not be offended by it, especially when it shows up at the start and the end but not during the actual game itself.

You're also greatly exagerating. There's 2 lesbians that you only hear about, never actually see, no gays or trannies.

>picrel

Those pics are only partially related, though. Yes, it's a dickish move they tried and fortunnaly failed this time, other devs weren't so lucky. But it's still just a terrible attempt at buying their studio, not actually stepping in and telling them how to make the game.

Prey 2, for better or for worse, was entirely designed and created by Human Head. Bethesda sustained them economically but that was it.

For reference, first pic related is what people typically do c3s in. Second pic related is the inexperienced fit I used that barely scraped by. The first one is obvious, it has tank enough to sit and shoot at rats, which is generally what you want in pve. The jewgu is part rep part speed tank, even when the ideal for it is to not get hit in the first place it still has back up tank.

To be honest your fit is a disaster. It still has it's cloak fit, which I assume is the cov ops cloak meaning it's using the inferior covert configuration which is an all around weaker tank than normal, t3cs can swap rigs and subsystems on mobile depots, the idea is switch to the armor rep subsystem after entering the system and choosing to shekel. Then there's your offensive subsystem: don't. Use the assault sub system, especially in a t3c the last thing you want to do is brawl rats, you want weapons that will shoot and apply at range, this means missiles and/or drones which are the go to pve weapons of choice, notice that you're using a mid slot on a web, you don't want to do that. Most importantly though is your tank, you haven't set the simulation defense pannel to show what your armor rep per second is but considering there's only one rep it's probably not enough, armor pve fits are generally less preferable but still when used they typically use two armor reps, with your unbalanced resists c3 sites do every damage type it's likely you wont survive with out speed, which you also don't have, but typically doesn't work much because c3 sites web, which is why the posted jewgu struggles.

I'm gonna be real fam, this fit is the kind of thing people go hunting for the kill mail of to post and mock just how awful it is. c3 sites are typically done by rattle snakes or at least something battleship sized. Don't be discouraged from joining WH though, wormhole corps often have their own low experience/sp fits or even group pve fleets, they'll definitely help you get to c3 jewing if that's what you want. Until then consider something smaller scale, wormhole exploration is a mixed bag of profitability but a good way to accustom your self to wormholes, a lot less money on the line as well typically.

It's been a few years since I've played so there might've been rebalances since, but I did C3s in a Legion with no issues.

It's quicker and more profitable in a Rattlesnake yeah, but you also have to move a battleship around in that case which is basically a death sentence if you're trying to do it by yourself.

I daytripped C3s after our wormhole corp fell apart and never lost a ship, though I'm also paranoid as fuck and had a couple years experience in wormhole living.

The ship-customisation feature perfectly sums up how paradox does things. The feature itself is trying to provide depth, it's rusing you into thinking that you're not about to step into a shallow puddle. It wants you to think 'wow, I can customise every part of my ship'

Thing is

You fucking can't. It's like comparing those toys where you could swap the arms and legs around to lego. It's trying to give you a choice but in reality it makes every choice you make worthless, and the only thing that you ever concentrate on is the dps. Star Ruler 2, bless that dead game, does this well, where you make a ship on a hex grid. You can set the individual pieces, the guns, you have your firing arcs and everything and people make ships that can repair after splitting apart, you can make large reservoirs of liquid armour behind the ship. You can do a lot.

In Stellaris, you can swap the gun to shoot a different colour, you can make it size 1/2/3 and what else? It's like the game is trying to catch that autistic crowd who will min-max their ships and get into it, but then gets afraid part way through of alienating retards so it settles for this shit system where ultimately, nothing matters but your tech level. The ai is crap anyway and won't specialise to counter your ships so simply having l5 guns when they have l4 guns will guarantee the win.

Also it's a minor, unrelated point, but holy shit all the stellaris ships look ugly as sin. Why have the guns even appear as turrets? That thing you fucking posted looks like a bloody turd in space, you're rarely ever directly look at the ships, thankfully, but why can't they just not fucking show the turrets, or make them tiny, and have good looking ships instead.

Pic related is Star Ruler 2's building system, this is good, autistic and the game is free if you build it yourself from github, they've released the source code. or save yourself the trouble and pirate it

I was able to get my Peregrine Squadron to attack both friendly and Xenon stations in a test just now via the normal attack command. Have you verified your install? I really have no clue what could cause it.

My big problem is assigning trade ships to stations; they just mill around forever and ever saying "looking for trades," and I never sell a single product. Found out it's a 2018-era issue, so I'm just setting them all as roaming auto-traders instead and minimizing my station focus. Can you test if they do anything on your end?

Egosoft has always been a pretty trash developer and anybody who claims otherwise is lying or wrong.

I do very much enjoy the creeping xenon invasion, slowly suffocating my trade routes through the Northeastern part of the map. One particularly ballsy Xenon P went inside an orbital habitat I was in and started blasting away.

Sins of the Prophets is up to version 0.90 now and it's better than ever. The old sloop is back in black, there's a new stealth capital and a new huge battleship, the research tree has been completely redone to be both more interesting and more lore-consistent, and the graphics overhaul is fucking amazing.

Also they added the Viery-class Orbital Gun platform (the "3000 ton tungsten slug at 4% light" speed ones from Reach). They are amazing, and their sound effect makes me orgasm.

All capital ships are equipped with nukes by default, praise Shiva.

The mod now qualifies as a game worth checking out even if you aren't that big into Halo stuff. The only downside is that it occasionally crashes, but there are autosaves for that. The sheer asymmetry of the combat between humans and aliens is magnificent.

The attack command worked earlier in the game for me too, so something must've triggered the bug.

As for trade ships, mine had the same problem as yours, but it solved itself when either my station manager or the pilots got higher piloting ratings (not sure which one it was, since I let it run overnight). Or it could've been just time that solved it. Not sure if this is a feature or a bug, tbh.

And have fun when you meet your first Xenon I battleship. It still had 90% shields after chewing through a fully-stocked Argon Carrier and 5 destroyers

Happened last night while I was in a scout vessel after a wormhole jump. My initial reaction was "I thought those didn't exist in this game!"

Seems legit. I just watched a Xenon K chew up a Teladi Phoenix without dropping below 99% shields.

I'm running the "learn all the things" mod to increase skill growth, so I'll have to try uninstalling it and waiting a while to see if that resolves the issue. Thanks.

Also this orbital habitat is getting destroyed in the most amusing way because of the module-based destruction. All the landing pads and this guy's office are still there, in the middle of an ongoing warzone.

Could be worse. Star Citizen is now making you eat and drink every few hours or else you just fucking die. And it's SC, so instead of just "click on the food item in menu and you're done", eating means landing at a base, walking to a food stall, buying the food, and then using the pain in the ass ui system to "immersively" eat the food because god forbid they add any of the other systems like storage boxes on ships that might make this mechanic not be pure torture.

Oh and there's also prisons. Now when you commit a crime… or more likely you get accidentally crime stat because their fucking tech demo of a server glitched again, you might get sent to a prison were you have to mine rocks for literal hours real time. And I have mentioned all this is in now while the actual space game stuff like fucking salvage or a second star system is still years off, and they haven't made progress on the single player campaign in 6 months?

Nostalgic boomers are the primary clientele of SC, they're the ones dropping their life savings on jpegs. They actually like these time-wasters, presumably because their dementia-riddled brains have enough time to catch up to what's happening. And what's more, this looks like progress, but is trivial to program. A star system, salvage, or an entire campaign and new play mode all are a lot harder to do. Can't scam people if it doesn't look like you're making progress, every Patreon scammer knows this.

-You only have 1500 hours and you call yourself an 'experienced player?' This feature is for real Elite pilots, not just anybody

-You can pay for it by just mining low temperature diamonds for 4 hours a week

[He's wrong, it takes a lot longer than that]

-It's additional content! It's not like they're removing anything you already had.

-Only noobs whine about grinding. Real men nut up and get it done.

Basically many variations of these. Yes, a guy literally called 1500 hours "not experienced."

Pic related is actual realism, not whatever this shit is.

It's funny how Hazeron continues to be the most realistic space MMO even far before the era of "game as a service"; the travel times can get fucking absurd, and so can some of the researches, but none of them require your active involvement. Just your presence in some cases.

"Realism" should be a design and gameplay direction, not some arbitrary tag you append to a bunch of individual features. It is not "realistic" to grind on some random space mineral for hundreds of real-time hours. Guess what: there are currently no "asteroid miners" alive, and most any semi-realistic science fiction book would have all of that shit heavily automated. You don't need a human serving as a meaty autoclicker inbetween revs of a space drill, you use a 555 timer chip and put it on a drone so you don't have to waste your time.

12eb1c  No.16905270

>>16905256

People sometimes forget that the only point of "realism" is to introduce intuitive gameplay and challenges.

For instance, throwing fire at something made of ice will melt it. This can mean extra damage or some actual effect in the game but you don't really need an hint or tooltip to explain this, you see the fire and the ice and you know what's supposed to happen because that'd be "realistic".

This doesn't mean that it actually checks the temperature of your fireballs or the chemical composition of the ice block, it just follows common sense so you understand the gameplay intuitively.

Another example would be all the survival mechanics that some games have like hunger and thirst. These are often just death timers that you can clock back but because they are "realistic" concepts, you'll intuitively know how to handle them and will immediately attribute a different value to many things like streams of water or the flesh of your enemies.

These increase the challenge of the game somewhat but always in a way that you don't need long tutorials to explain the mechanics behind them.

Even when you get to autistic levels of simulation like some mods for Fallout, it's still based on real life concepts that you can understand.

What these twats actually mean by realism however is "fake effort that requires time instead of skill", something that everyone can get no matter what, as long as they have the spare time to waste on it. Because not everyone has that kind of patience, there doesn't tend to be that many that actually get it and they mistake this form of "exclusivity" for being skilled at something that doesn't actually take any form of skill.

They also get to feel like they accomplished something when in reality they just wasted their time doing something that isn't even fun, only the result and boasting about it could be entertaining.

I don't think realism is at all connected to intuitiveness. The two tend to have overlap, but it's not at all realistic to melt a heap of ice with a torch. The torch'll get snuffed out. But it is intuitive to use fire against ice either because of prior convention (ice weak versus fire, fire weak versus fire, etc.) or because that's the first thing which came to mind.

My Summer Car is definitely realistic in a specific sense, and a lot of its gameplay might be intuitive, but its controls and design certainly aren't. It has all the death timers, but the approach to them isn't uniform (you can't die to smelling like shit despite it being graded directly next to hunger or thirst or stress) and it has a lot of the same "features" of real life, yet you cannot do something as simple as hike to town and back on foot without dying on the way, and while being able to carry only one item. In fact, the intuitive design would be to give the players an inventory where they can put their items – yet this is divorced from "realistic" intuitiveness where you'd give players a second hand, or the ability to carry more things in those hands, etc. because of design and technical limitations. Intuition in games and realism are not one and the same thing, and forumdads want neither.

They want the game to cater to them specifically and their own skillset. What do they have that everyone else doesn't? Far too much free time. So, to them, it is an injustice to balance your game in any way that inconveniences them.

As if the demand rates for diamonds won't be the very next thing fdev nerfs. I've had the exact opposite feeling. X3 was pure torture to me and just didn't feel rewarding in the slightest beyond the early-game dog-fighting. Rebirth's endgame was broken as shit but at least it gave me compelling activities and distractions to hold me over through mid-game and the battles were fun to watch, which X4 has thankfully carried over as well. I do agree the automation is limited, but at least i can operate my space empire without spending all day micromanaging, which to me makes for a vastly improved experience even if said empire runs inefficiently.

Right now if I dont step in and start shitting out advanced electronics the economy may actually softlock on itself. That's been known to be a problem for a while, though with the Split patch, the problem was supposed to occur later.

What I don't get is why, if they can't manage a 100% real economy, don't they just let the AI cheat a bit? If some ware is extremely rare, occasionally randomly spawn a transport carrying it, just to keep the galactic economy running. If a faction runs out of money, occasionally randomly give it to them.

Oh, and I should not be able to assassinate a faction by ordering a dozen ships from every shipyard and wharf it owns. Add AI military only ship production lines that get prioritized when it comes to construction material, as long as the fleet of their faction is under strength.

I'm not even saying they should keep these measures forever, but it'd be a quick fix to a devastating problem until they can come up with an actual solution.

Its been in the game since day one. I blame the random sector generator and retarded GOD AI. On my current save Ive got a teladi enclave taken out semi-permanentely because a K started camping their habitat, fast forward 28 hours and its 3 Ks camping their habitat and 3 dozen rabit Ps making sure it stays that way. It would take me personally an investment of at least fifty million to drive the fuckers out, and I may very well lose half or more of that because lmao robbuts have legit battleships while the player has carriers and barges, and good luck winning that fight without a 100 angry bees inside the carrier.

Im in a situation where I have to pull back a destroyer manually because every time I give it a command to retreat it starts flying in circles, and theres a bunch of Ms and a couple Ps that are harassing the ship for 30 minutes now and they still wont fucking die despite the destroyer being all flak and beam lasers, thank fuck I could kite the xiggers into a stationary fleet or it would take another hour to get away

Yeah, the Xenon managed to annihilate Argon Prime in much the same way in my game. Came in, destroyed defense fleets, destroyed Wharf and most factories and just hung out, that prevented transports from reaching the Shipyard, which eventually led to the demise of the shipyard. And that was that for the system.

That being said, apparently there's already files for other race's capital ships and they're coming… eventually, in which case a Xenon Battleship wouldn't be the harbinger of doom to any race that it touches.

Word of warning for the Split carrier: AI fighters are utterly unable to land on it if it is moving. If you want to retreat, order it to stand still and the fighters to return, then and only then retreat the carrier. If you just order the carrier to retreat, it'll still move around, causing the fighters to be unable to land and stand still in space until they're all destroyed and the carrier gets shot too.

Yeah the only practical reason I used them was because I thought they at least had better tracking but they literally do nothing against small targets. Im also seriously disappointed in flak turrets because they do jack shit whereas flak turrets in X3 were absolute assrape due to engine disruption. I think Ill stick to basic PACs in the future because every other weapon is useless outside of its niche while PACs are just baseline meh at everything. Weapon balance seems generally completely out of whack with most weapons being useless 90% of the time. When I outfitted a nemesis with 4 disintegrators and they did jack shit against an N in a joust I gave up on experimenting with weapons.

>Just put Teladi shields on split vessels for maximum RAPE.

Problem is, my former favourite ship, the Dragon, which is really an Acinonyx renamed into the Dragon for some reason, only has a maximum of 6k shields which makes it unviable as a playership. For all intents and purposes its an M3 with a lot of hull. Now compare it to shit like the Peregrine which has 20k shields and can take out a patrol by itself with just 2 forward facing guns and 4 anemic turrets just on its shield alone, while a Dragon eats shit from 3 Ms despite having dakka for days, and you know whats up.

The Dragon may be a worse player vessel, but it's not a worse ship in general.

If you compare the firepower, speed, and hull of a maxxed out dragon and peregrine, you'll note that it about breaks even in terms of the amount of damage it can deal before dying, but that the peregrine is more suited to anti-fighter duty, while the dragon is anti-capital through and through.

Also Xenon stations are a lot harder to kill than I expected. I need more.

Season 4 missed a lot of shit from the book, but the books had been dropping in quality level compared to earlier books at this point anyway.

Stuff like the worries about the belters contaminating the local biology that the company was supposed to study as part of its charter, the belters massacring security people and the goodguys trying to sabotage the weaponized shuttle. You know, all the shit that drives the badguys decisions. And considering that the book was already portraying James as having an almost irrational hatred of the badguy first time they meet…

Then again, season 3 condensed half a book into a single episode, so season 4 isn't that different, in that respect.

Could be worse though. Just look at the current state of Trek.

Oh that makes it a lot harder.

Scavenger SV-4 has only one planet but it does the whole "rover discovering alien life for the first time" excellently especially when you accidentally bring said life back up to your ship. It's roguelike though, and not very long either.

Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 can, at times, give this feel. The first Mass Effect could also count, but not the others.

Technically No Man's Sky but it's weak on the whole "interaction" part.

Starbound trololololo

If you're willing to forego space-based science fiction then I could highly recommend Rain World for sheer exotic wildlife and variety of environs (there's some crazy shit to explore in that game).

If you consider walking sims with lots of survival meters fun then Solus Project might count, but it's more ancient ruins than life, one-planet, and I didn't like the ending.

In other words there's not much, at least from what I've played.

I've spent around 200 hours in No Man's Sky so allow me to elaborate. There's essentially an infinite amount of planets in up to 256 galaxies, but unless you're building a base on a certain planet you're little more than a tourist. There are eight biome archetypes with each biome having subtypes with their own particular characteristics. Of those eight, one is dead, which is airless and with low-gravity no matter how massive it is, and one is "weird" which is full of random nonsense garbage according to theme. The other six are variations on earth biomes, lush and desert, hot and cold, radioactive and toxic. Obstensibly you want to explore planets in order to catalog the flora, fauna, and minerals or to gather resources, but the biggest and endless grind in the game is to find top-tier multitools or starships with the looks you want. Aside from that, there are missions which either tie into faction reputation grinds with some other rewards or trying to grind up the quicksilver currency which is used to buy cosmetics, no microtransactions. There are regular updates with new content but the core gameplay loop is kinda shoddy as I've described it. You gotta enjoy either basebuilding or the needle-in-a-haystack search for the perfect ship/tool to get the most out of it, but if all you want is to check out cool looking planets No Man's Sky certainly delivers. The game is $50 but frequently goes on sale for half off. PC of course is preferred for the mods and performance, but console versions are passable if you got the upgraded consoles.

I've played it twice it was as bad with the 'updates'. Best space game I ever played was SS13 by a wide margin. It started out as goofy fun, but I got pulled in by the in-depth simulation of random shit like powering the station and turning people in to robots. What really rocketed to the best game of all time was the space exploring. The game went from being whacky and crazy to isolated and dismal. You could find anything in space from derelict abandon space stations, to bunkers, to dead memes. Also if you didn't have anyway to move yourself in space (throwing items, jetpack, etc) then you would just float until you hit something. Sometimes you would just be in an infinite loop until your oxygen tank ran out. Meanwhile the entire server is doing some sort of whacky shit back on the home station and has absolutely no idea that you're endlessly drifting off in space.

Your combat and mercantile ratings are separate. You can gain positive relations with a hostile race by doing missions for members of that race in other races' stations, except pirates who are always going to be cunts, and Xenon and Khaak who are utterly omnicidal.

On the 8chan station around peek popularity (20-30 players) the station lasted around an hour. People actually kept leaving for the white ship at the round start to escape the 2-3 lings every round who would do nothing but kill everyone on the server. Eventually it got a little out of hand as everyone would just go straight to the white ship and delay the round for 2-3 hours, because the lings wouldn't end until they killed their target (who was on the white ship). Last I remember the server +8 hour rounds where the norm and it'd be 4-5 people on at a time max and it always felt completely dead. Good things never last.

Video games tamper with physics constantly in dozens of ways both small and large. Take, for instance, nearly every game with lasers: you get lasers that travel slow, laser blobs, lasers being deflected by energy, lasers at frequencies where things don't lase well, lasers not needing to stay on target to deposit energy, lasers in atmosphere at huge distances, lasers that make sci-fi noises, lasers that curve, lasers that get perfectly reflected by reguarl shiny stuff, and so on endlessly. That's just lasers and not even addressing the vague "they work different because of new technology" or "they're really bursts of plasma" tropes. When it happens for the sake of not being boring shit, it's totally fine. When something like that gets fucked up and it's important to the plot (or the devs are just really brazen about it), then it's bothersome. Someone hearing the alien sneaking up on them in space is one thing, and I agree that in situations like that it's pretty egregious and annoying. If it's just so that the space fighter cockpit isn't silent except for radio and the buffeting noises of stuff that touches the ship, it's really not worth getting worked up over I don't think. It is, however, neat when devs take that kind of stuff into consideration without being tools about it–if, say, the fighter cockpit has a little audio system that's nominally making all the sounds, and if that system gets fried then the cockpit does go quiet, then that could be a nice atmospheric detail.

Why wouldn't ships use a convenient and intuitive system like sound to convey directions of events? If the sound is simulated by an onboard system, you can "hear" things in a vacuum.

Nigger, are you fucking serious? Stellaris is literally the worst 4x I have ever played, and I've played some real fucking stinkers. Hell, literally in the same class there's Endless Space 2 which does EVERYTHING better than Stellaris (except its token meaningless customisation). Stellaris somehow manages to be even worse than the usual Paradox shit as it tries and utterly fails to be a 4x. NO amount of modding can fix such a shitpile as Stellaris, but Endless Space 2 is actually enjoyable out of the box without any modding whatsoever. Insane, right?

If Stellaris is the worst 4x you ever played, you havent played a lot of 4x, stellaris is somewhat above average. Furthermore, Endless Space is a terrible benchmark to compare 4x to as a genre because its an outlier due to its comparatively small scale and casual game mechanics.

Any 4X that needs to make it's AI cheat even on regular difficulty levels just so it can compete against the players is a shit game.

It's even worse when it's not just some multipliers but actually gives them free resources or lets them ignore costs.

I've tried Stellaris and any attempt at cutting off the AI from trade routes or resources is utterly meaningless since they don't just ignore your actions, they ignore the reason behind them, removing tactical depth from the game.

At that point, it's just getting bigger numbers than the AI in the gameplay sections where it doesn't cheat as much and letting that advantage make up for all the bullshit the AI does everywhere else.

Actually read the second line next time.

I know there's plenty of AI cheating in almost all 4X and RTS games, but Civ or Endless tend to be mostly multipliers. They produce more resources and make units faster compared to the player on higher levels and actually the reverse on easier levels. That's not very good but it's understandable and at the very least, you're clearly told about it when picking a difficulty while also having Normal be actually normal.

However what you don't see in either of those games compared to Shitellary is the AI having access to some economic resource like Marble or Titanium if it doesn't have any city actually producing it. You will also not see them earning money for trade routes you've cut or out-earning your resources in some backwater isolated city that's half the size of yours, especially not in the regular difficulty.

You can cut off trade routes and supplies, you can fight over resources and trade them, the geography of the map actually matters.

Unlike Stellaris, where every AI base is just an F.O.B. to launch their free ships from.

The problem with Stellaris isn't that the AI cheats but rather that it does so in a way that removes parts of the game out of your strategy and leaves you only with basic bitch number increasing min maxing.

Compare that to either of those two games or with something like Age of Empires 2 where the AI is actually good, it doesn't really cheat.

>compares the AI in a game with a metric fuckton of different systems to AI in 2 games with a very limited amount of systems and an RTS

Look Im not gonna defend the swedes for nigger-rigging the AI to perform adequately against human players, but thats the price you pay for having a fuckton of variables in a game. Cheating AI in 4x is the norm, not the exception, Stellaris just happens to cheat more with ressources that usual because the swedes decided that focusing on multiplayer is a smart idea, and crammed in a bunch of shit that the AI chokes on.

Now you could argue that DWU does whatever Stellaris does better (sans multiplayer because there is none), including in the AI department, but seeing how you compared the AI in an RTS to the AI in a 4x game because you couldnt name a 3rd one, I have my doubts.

Case in point, youre acting like something that near every 4x in existence HAS to do due to sheer mechanical complexity is a dealbreaker, and thus I declare thee a faggot who talks shit about things he knows nothing about.

You're not getting the point.

It's not that the AI cheats that bothers people. It's HOW it cheats.

It's one thing to multiply every resource it earns by 2, it's another to pull resources out of it's ass when you made sure it shouldn't be able to do so. As in, you had a strategy to cut off resources that does not mean anything beacause of HOW the AI cheats.

It doesn't actually put the AI in equal terms with you, it reduces the amount of variables down to basic stuff so it can more easily cheat and give the illusion that it's on equal terms.

If Paradox made a Chess game, they wouldn't code an AI that takes into account all the different pieces, they'd just make the AI handle and move every piece like a Rook or a Bishop and call it a day.

I gave the example of AoE 2 because it's one of the very, very few cases where an AI in an RTS doesn't actually cheat when that's also common there. Plenty of tests have been made there and players reached the conclusion that it's just well coded and at best it gets no fog of war.

It doesn't prove anything for 4X except that you can have actual good AI and the players still find it chalenging.

Finnaly, consider the following two points regarding the "metric fuckton of different systems".

If the AI can and will ignore most of them so it can be on equal grounds with the player, what's the point in having either the AI or those systems?

If you can't code an AI that can handle all those subsystems, why do you expect the player to be able to do so? Perhaps the issue is that those systems are actually terribly implemented and not even an AI can make any decent use out of them.

It's autism reborn.

You man a space station along 40~70 other retards like yourself doing dangerous experiments for a company with dubious morality.

It takes a lot of reading to learn a single job, but the shit that can happen there had me rolling on the floor, laughing like a mad man in more than one ocassion.

One such ocurrence; I had made a chemical that makes your sprite rotate like a windmill, and I was a surgeon. Had to operate, medicate and defibrilate people while stupidly rotating, awesome shit.

A month ago or so, I was a roboticist. When I do robo, I go fucking ham on the combat mechs. So I made like 3 fully armed Durands, which are slow and sturdy, very pricy. Suddenly, I stupidly ate a brain burger which killed my character instantly. My fellow roboticist put my brain in a glorified jar. I could talk but I had no body. He tried to make cyborg and put my brain in it, but I told him that the mechs I made where locked with my DNA for safety. I suggested he tried to clone me, with blood and DNA, but my body had lost so much blood it had none, also it was half rotten by this time, so I wanted to be revived but reviving limbs is hard so I suggested he amputates all my limbs, put some blood in it and clone me. He amputates me, chugs my brain back in my half rotten body, and drags this decomposing torso straight to med bay, all the while my brain was slowly rotting aswell. Puts some blood in, rushes mee to cloning room and the cloners are occupied. He has an argument with the doctor there, like why is he dragging a very rotten torso around the station. My partner screams at him that is monumental I get cloned, my DNA locked those 3 very expensive mechas. He gets me cloned and I unlock everything. During all this ordeal, I was laughing histerically.

Man, what a shift.

I would agree with you but as of current version every player and the AI have access to an unlimited amount of strategic ressources as long as they have energy credits to afford it.

Also that last point is retarded because all the systems the game has are geared towards a human player, which is the reason WHY the AI is so retarded in the first place. A human can intuitively understand how 2 different systems affect each other, an AI has to be provided a set of very specific conditions and appropriate reactions.

Or you can just program in 10 distinctive responses and then pump it full of ressources so it can sustain all of them regardless of situation, and have the same outcome 90% of the time.

And again, Im not defending the swedes, their shitty AI or their 20yo engine. I think your problem lies in seeing the average and the ideal side by side and having a spergout about how terrible the average is in comparison.

The problem with the AI in Stellaris is that no AI can properly function in Stellaris.

The game is so poorly designed that no AI can really function in that environment.

For example in other RTS or 4X you have at least one resource that is highly valuable but in short supply. These give the AI some sort of an anchor around which it can structure its behavior, something to focus on march towards.

However that does not exist in Stellaris. There are no highly valuable resources in the game, everything is plentiful, everything can be easily mined or synthesized in massive quantities. You cant even fight over technologies or archaeological sites. In fact even taking over that capital world in war is meaningless as it produces no tangible benefit for the attacker and the capital is just automatically moved when taken over.

This gives the AI nothing to work with because fundamentally no star system is more worthwhile than others.

This lack of focus on… well anything means the AI cannot be programmed with specific instructions to deal with specific situations, because the game offers no such situations.

Another problem is that Stellaris is needlessly drawn out for a real-time game. Most actions and decisions, such as building mega structures or colonizing planets, take literal hours to execute and complete. Meaning that they are all long term decisions that need to be made hours in advance to pay off. Now that is semi(because its boring as fuck) manageable for humans but the AI cannot make those kinds of decision. Consumer grade AI can make snap immediate decisions, not calculate hours in advance if this or that planet is worth colonizing or if it really can afford to build that Dyson sphere(or even needs it).

The only way AI can work in a game designed like this is if its given insane cheats. Ironically enough even that is not be enough as the AI will still often shoot it self in the foot by not sending all of its fleets or by simply not being able to path find to your territory.

The AI cannot be fixed until Paradox actually fixes the individual game systems.

Just finished a run of Anno 2205. It's ultraPOZZED (the only 2 white men in the game are the lowest class of worker and the villain, the executives and astronauts are black, the investor is a liberal white female who had some SJW dialogue, and the AI told me he prefers they/them pronouns) but I enjoyed it as a game, especially the viscious stock market gameplay, which ended up being me blatantly manipulating the UN and everybody else blatantly manipulating the UN against me. I recommend turning voice volume to zero because none of the dialogue is necessary or important. Don't pay for it, obviously. Or just play another Anno game, but this one is more space themed and very pretty.

Ok, how the hell do you fire anti-missile missiles in Aurora? I had a proper ship, AMM size 1, launchers for those missiles, missile fire controls connected to the launchers, sensors able to detect missiles at proper range connected to the controls, and ship setting set at point defence against missiles.

And still the fucking xenos just spam missiles at me and my ships do fucking nothing, is there some additional button to click for ships to not be retarded?

Anyone tried out Avorion yet?

Basically a voxel-based X rip-off with supply/demand-based trading; a clear-cut story centered around the goal of 'Get to the middle' and MP

I found it to be suprisingly absorbing and enjoyable despite some of the glaring issues when it comes to fleet managing and AI in general

Really getting back into playing Sins of a Solar Empire. Compared to other RTS space games out there now it really does seem extremely simple but that's what makes it fun for me. Colonize planets, build mining rigs on every available asteroid I can get my hands on, build trade ports, bumrush through the tech tree, build a fuckhuge fleet with using every crew resource I have available for both capital and smaller vessels. My only complaint still is starbases are still dirt cheap and easy to deploy absolutely fucking everywhere. Upgrading defense, weapons, and adding 2 hangar upgrades turns them into nightmare murder machines. Not to mention Titans which can absolutely dominate every fight, the TEC rebels Titan in my opinion is the most OP one. Insane long range capabilities, immense firepower, and defenses that make me question if the damn thing is actually invincible or not. With all the defense and weapon upgrades in the military tech tree I have never lost it in combat, even with shields down the hull hardly takes any damage. Other complaint now that I think about it are the superweapons. If I decide to have other TEC factions on the map I always disable the superweapons for the match. The AI ALWAYS bumrushes the Nova cannon right at the start and then I have a never ending barrage of bombs going at my planets nonstop. Resource distribution still needs to be worked on. No matter the map, even the randomly generated ones, I have a massive surplus of crystal and hardly any metal. Years ago it used to be the opposite, with a fuckton of metal and hardly any crystal. Still extremely fun though and the modding scene is still thriving

I decided to try out Hardspace: Shipbreaker.

It's on early access right now so you guys might want to stay away from it till there's more content in it.

Currently it's a pretty comfy game, you fly around in zero gravity pulling ships apart using laser cutting tools and a gravity gun from half life that can also launch energy tow cables called tethers, which will pull just about anything to where ever you attatch its other end to.

You gotta be careful though since cutting into sections with atmosphere inside can cause some catastrophic decompressions (yet cutting open bay doors on a transport is an a-ok way to decompress a ship).

Also you gotta watch out for fuel lines, coolant line, remove some things in certain order so shit wont explode and also when you get the reactor off of its cage/socket, you better get that thing to the barge as fast as you can because those bastards go off super easy, heck the bigger ones start melting down as soon as you cut off the coolant.

Funnily enough, you can delete fuel lines without explosions if you have the cutting tool set on disintegration instead of cutting.

The story is pretty simple, you are a future wage slave working off your 1 billion dollar debt to the Lynx company, you pay rent for oyur equipment (until you can buy it off for yourself) you gotta pay for the equipment repairs and clones in case of accidents.

Higher difficulty levels limit or remove your clones.>>16944066

Atlas was Peak NMS. Afterwards it became a too-locked-down and grindy. Fucking batteries?

The Fun Exploration part of the game was exploring for things not actually designed in— working out the economy-breakers that got you MAX_INT Spacedollars in a week, finding the planets with proper glitches like the one with 3000 graves that was accessible with only two Portal Glyphs, and such.

If I wanted to follow a white line on the ground I'd buy a 4WD and pay for an Outback Adventure.

1. I started hating DS9 the minute that Cisco became dark and edgy. When he started bitching about racism in a time where human-to-human racism didn't exist, I completely tuned out.

2. I used to really want to grind my groin against Nana Visitor's. That was when I was young and horny and didn't know what a jew looked like in the wild. Now I see that the same goblinization that affects them all has set in as she creeps into her late middle age. She'll be full RBG by 2035.

It's been years since they've actually added a completely new gameplay loop. So far it's just been "It's mining again but now you can do it with a 50 dollar go cart (plus the 100 dollar+ ship needed to haul it around) instead of a 155 dollar mining ship" and "It's mining again but now you can do it with a hand tool (and die to a clipping error in a poorly designed cave) instead of a using a 155 dollar mining ship"

Salvaging, and repair/refuel are still MIA, They still haven't even finished the first star system, they just put out another data running ship despite data running not actually existing yet, and the big two new things people are excited for is refineries on space stations even though there's already refinery functions, just now you'll have to spend an extra five minutes walking to a different section of a spacestation and then wait a half hour or more while your collected ore is unloaded and refined in real time. Because Star Citizen mistakes pointless tedium for deep immersive gameplay.

Also they're adding manually zeroing scopes on a sniper rifle for some fucking reason, because of bullet drop off in a space I guess.
